Esme could see the fear and helplessness in his eyes. Her heart ached, but she knew what had to be done. She gently freed her hands from his grasp and pulled him into a tight embrace, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"I know what I am going," she whispered in his ear. "This is our chance to end this game. Just let him think he has the control over us."
Silas froze as he listened to her intently.
Esme continued, "A spare key is hidden beneath the second step on the stairs to the backyard porch. When I am inside, enter through the backdoor."
Silas hugged her tighter. "Promise me you will stay safe."
"I will." Esme pulled back slightly to meet his gaze. "I love you, and I trust me." With that, she pressed her lips against his.
