Silas grimaced as he swallowed a pill with a sip of water, then pushed the bottle aside, his gaze glued to the laptop screen and an hour evaporated in the blink of an eye. Silas, completely absorbed, hammered away at his unfinished tasks. The water bottle remained stubbornly untouched on the desk.

The door rapped softly, and Daisy appeared. "Have you finished the lunch sir?" she inquired, her eyes flickering to the water bottle. Disappointment coiled in her stomach when she saw it was still full. It was as if Silas hadn't taken a single sip.

"Yes," Silas muttered dismissively, not even sparing her a glance. "Take the box away."

Daisy's face crumpled, a storm of restless energy churning within her. She wished she could forcefully shove all the pills down his throat at once. How could he enjoy his life while her father lay bedridden, suffering day after day?

She wouldn't let him off the hook. Her fingers clenched into fists, nails digging into her palms.
