In a reassuring tone, Oswald asked, "Are you okay?" Viola replied in an unsure tone, her eyes still shut, "Yes?"
"I suggest you open your eyes and see this," Oswald replied, recognizing an opportunity to comfort her.
Viola, frightened and still gripping Oswald tightly, replied aggressively, "Are you crazy?! I know we are up in the air."
Oswald persisted in his insistence for her to open her eyes, and Viola, still uncertain, asked, "Is it okay to open my eyes?"
In an assuring tone, Oswald replied, "Yes, 100% yes," Oswald responded, as Viola slowly but steadily opened her eyes with a mix of interest and suspicion. To her surprise, they had already landed on the open, tree-covered side of the skyscraper.
Viola blinked in disbelief and then turned to Oswald, "So, uh, you're not going to tell me we just jumped off a collapsing skyscraper with parachutes, are you?"
Oswald grinned, "Well, now that you mention it..."
Oswald burst out laughing, saying, "You should see the look on your face when you were unsure to open your eyes." He continued to laugh wholeheartedly.
Viola, now confused, asked, "Wait, what do you mean by that?"
Oswald, still chuckling, replied, "We already landed not a minute ago. You thought we were descending in slow motion. This is real life and not some kind of movie, we don't fall like a 20-minute descent, especially after jumping from the 50th floor." His laughter persisted, leaving Viola with an embarrassed expression, shy and humiliated by the realization of her misperception.
In an embarrassed outburst, Viola shouted, "Okay! So what now? Both my bag and all the firearms are now buried in the skyscraper, so basically, I have nothing."
Oswald, still amused by the situation, replied, "Let's go to my hideout. We can gather Intel and decide on our next destination there."
Viola agreed to his suggestion and added, "Let's get out of this place first and find something to ride on our way out."
As Oswald and Viola traversed the bleak environment, they came across a makeshift vehicle graveyard on the outskirts of the collapsed skyscraper. They found a decent, yet functional, vehicle among the rubble.
Viola smiled, a ray of optimism in her eyes. "Looks like luck is finally on our side."
While inspecting the vehicle, Oswald nodded in agreement. "Let's see if we can get this thing running." After some fiddling and a lucky break, the engine fired up. And set out on a journey through the post-apocalyptic city.
Their destination was Oswald's hideout, a secluded place where he had gathered information about the mysterious occurrences and the inexplicable disappearances of people. As they drove through the eerily silent streets, they noticed remnants of a world that once thrived – abandoned cars, empty buildings, and nature slowly reclaiming the urban landscape.
Upon reaching Oswald's hideout, a fortified building nestled on the outside of the city, they began sorting through the gathered Intel. Maps, journals, and old news provided glimpses into the unraveling of society. Oswald, with a sense of urgency, pointed out a particular pattern – areas with unusual energy fluctuations and disturbances.
Viola, now intrigued by the possibility of understanding the cause behind the cataclysmic events, suggested they investigate one of these anomaly sites. As the duo prepared for their next journey, the mysteries of the post-apocalyptic world beckoned, and with each revelation, the bond between Oswald and Viola grew stronger in their shared quest for answers.
Oswald explained, "Okay, so there are three places that seem abnormal based on my research. The first place is Lyon City, the second is Liezen City, and the last is Brisbane City."
Viola concurred and decided to scour the internet for more clues while the Wi-Fi signal remained available. Meanwhile, Oswald took charge of preparing their dinner in the kitchen.
While Viola delved into her online search, she stumbled upon a particular website that featured a video detailing the current state of the world. Excitement and urgency filled her, prompting Viola to call out Oswald's name, saying, "Oswald, come here and take a look at this!"
After finishing preparing their dinner, Oswald wiped his hands on a cloth and walked over to Viola, who was fervently browsing the internet for more clues. He inquired, "What did you find?"
Viola, with a mix of urgency and excitement, pointed at the screen. "Look at this video. It seems to provide an overview of the current situation in the world." They both huddled around the screen as the video unfolded, revealing eerie footage of people screaming, unexplained phenomena, and the gradual disappearance of reporters one by one.
As they absorbed the shocking information, Oswald's expression turned serious. "This is bigger than we thought."
Viola nodded in agreement. "The anomalies in Lyon, Liezen, and Brisbane might be connected to whatever caused this global upheaval. We need to investigate these places."
Oswald responded, "Okay, so our first destination tomorrow will be Lyon City." Viola agreed with a nod. Oswald continued, "By the way, you can go ahead and eat dinner; it's on the table to the left. I'm just going to take a bath and will join you afterward."
Viola replied with relief, "Finally, okay. I'll go ahead then." As Oswald headed for a bath, Viola settled in for dinner
Viola POV
"Ahhh, finally, I'm starving."
I couldn't contain my hunger as I immediately grabbed a plate, along with a spoon and fork, and hurried to the table. Without wasting a moment, I began scooping up the food in front of me.
However, in the midst of my meal, my thoughts unexpectedly shifted to Oswald.
"He doesn't look that bad," I mused while eating slowly.
"Especially that deep voice—kinda cool, not gonna to lie." As I continued to eat my meal.
While still lost in thought, I found myself speculating.
"I bet he is perfectly fit, especially judging by the actions he made during the skyscraper incident."
Quickly disregarding the thought, I scolded myself.
"No, no, no, don't fantasize about him. He's just a big jerk who...who..."
My mind wandered once again, this time envisioning him slamming his arm against a wall and forcefully kissing me. Panicking, I chastised myself.
"No, you idiot, Viola! Don't think about him; you're just hallucinating."
On the other side
Oswald POV
"Ahhh, finally, I can take a bath; there have been so many events today,"
I said as I entered my room and grabbed my towel. My thoughts immediately turned to Viola as I walked towards the bathroom. I giggled, delighted by how she acted and how cute she could be when her words were sloppy.
"That girl is really interesting, especially how well she countered me back on the skyscraper incident."
I turned on the shower and stepped in, trying to focus on the refreshing water. Yet, my thoughts again veered towards Viola, contemplating her body figure and admiring her beauty.
As the water cascaded over me, my thoughts took an inappropriate turn.
"She does have a beautiful body figure and a C-cup breast size; I guess I'm not sure if it's a C or D cup."
Suddenly, my mind wandered into indecent thoughts, envisioning scenarios that were far from appropriate.
"What would it feel like to squeeze those boobs and those beautiful lips?" I berated myself, immediately retracting the thought.
"You idiot, why are you thinking those kinds of things? Not cool, Oswald."
