Chapter 74 - Chapter 72: Is She So Important to You?

Time was running out for the operation; the remaining reinforcements from the OUA and the Undertakers had gathered.

Returning to the command room, Yuki saw that almost all preparations had been completed.

"Gai?"

But one person was missing - Gai. Yuki had many things to discuss with him, but he couldn't find him anywhere.

"Yuki?"

"Tsugumi," Yuki nodded and smiled.

Tsugumi was surprised. She knew Yuki's condition; it was a miracle that he could still move but now, more than half of the crystals were gone.

"How's the plan going?"

"No problems," Tsugumi wanted to hug him and ask about his condition, but she knew it wasn't the right time, especially with Inori watching beside him.

"Alright, do you know where Gai is?"

"In the infirmary," Tsugumi said and rolled her eyes. After all, both Yuki and Inori should be there.

"Thank you," Yuki left the room, surprising Tsugumi.

There was an uncomfortable silence. Inori, who had been with Yuki, stared at Tsugumi; she hadn't gone with Yuki.

"Tsugumi..."

"Yes, ma'am!"

Tsugumi answered immediately and with a trembling body.

"I want to talk to you."

With these words, Inori also left the room, leaving Tsugumi with cold sweat running down her body.

Ayase, who saw this, sighed. She knew it would happen sooner or later.

Swallowing her saliva, Tsugumi decided it was time to face Inori and followed her with shaky steps.

Of course, Yuki knew about this; after all, Inori had asked to talk to Tsugumi alone.

Yuki didn't know what Inori wanted to say, but it wasn't something bad. Sometimes, a man would turn a blind eye to a woman's conversation.

Besides, Yuki thought it was a good opportunity to strengthen their relationship. They were his women and Yuki didn't want his crystal palace to become a battlefield.

So Yuki just shrugged his shoulders and let Inori do what she wanted. It wasn't as if she would harm Tsugumi.

Inori wasn't Yuno.

While he was thinking about that, he found the infirmary and saw Gai, who now only had his black trousers on.

*Knock, knock.

"Your illness is progressing."

Yuki touched the corner of the door and looked at Gai's weakened appearance.

"You came, huh? Was it Inori?"

Gai wasn't surprised; he knew the state of his body very well. Like Yuki, his problem with the Apocalypse virus was serious.

But unlike Yuki, his body wasn't strong enough to resist the effects.

"Inori told me; you used her blood to stop the effects of the virus."

Walking slowly, Yuki looked for a chair; their conversation was going to be long.

"So she told you, huh? I see her love for you is great."

With a tired sigh, Gai wasn't surprised. Everyone knew that Inori was Yuki's girlfriend. During the few days they had been together, Gai had seen a huge change in Inori.

(So you chose him in the end.)

Closing his eyes slightly, Gai couldn't help but think of a certain pink-haired girl.

"Hm, our bond is growing fast."

Yuki nodded happily.

Gai just smiled.

"Well, I'm glad that Inori is finally happy."

At least Gai was happy about that. Inori was an empty shell; Gai knew that very well. Although he was the one who had found her and given her a name, he knew that in contrast to Yuki, who had given her something more in her life, he had only made her suffer at his side.

"Do you know that it's impossible for you to heal with Inori's blood? You will only delay the inevitable."

"I know."

With narrowed eyes, Gai sighed; he knew that very well.

"Is she that important to you? Is she really worth all this effort?"

"It is."

"You know that if we go on like this, the woman you want will disappear, right?"

"I know."

"Are you sure? Is that what you really want? I won't hesitate to kill her."

This time, Gai's body trembled; he looked seriously into Yuki's face.

"If it's to protect Inori, I won't hesitate, Gai."

Looking at each other, Gai was the first to give in.

"So, you know."

"I had an idea."

Yuki answered with a small smile and narrowed his eyes.

"I see... I'm not asking you to save her, just that when the time comes, I want it to be painless."

With a sigh of sadness, Gai bowed his head; what Yuki had said was true. There were only two ways - one where Yuki copulated with Eva and destroyed humanity, and the other where a new Eva would replace the old one.

And neither of them was pleasant for Gai, but he knew that the inevitable day would come with each passing day.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of it."

Standing up, Yuki now confirmed all his theories and as he believed, Gai knew very well about the plan for the new humanity.

"Oh, right." As if he remembered something important, Yuki turned his head.

"GHQ must already know about our plans; the little mole must still be loose."

"It doesn't matter; even if they know, Leukocyte is destined to fall."

With a smile on his face, Yuki liked Gai's attitude. He was determined and had no doubts.

"You're right, very soon our plan will enter its final phase. At this point, it's inevitable."

With a mischievous smile on his face, Yuki looked at Gai who only answered with a long sigh.

Gai really wanted to know what was in the boy's mind; his plans went beyond those of his enemies.

Even Gai had to admit that he had to take his hat off to Yuki.

After all, this boy had already planned the fall of GHQ in so few days and with so little information, and from the smile on his face, Gai could see that his plans had accelerated.

"Yes, at this point it's inevitable."

Gai just hoped that his team would survive the chaos that was about to happen, and hopefully the destruction wouldn't be too severe.

What Gai thought was true; Yuki's plan had accelerated and all because of Inori. If she hadn't sung and entered the genomic resonance, Yuki's plans would have taken a few more months. But now, with the real enemy coming out of his hole and regaining his strength, everything could go to hell.

You could say that the mouse fell into the trap.
