Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Eva and Adam

"Damn terrorists!" A bald man of color shouted in frustration, glancing at several of his soldiers around him.

"Commander, we should return to the base and report all of this."

"Of course we will!"

Gritting his teeth, Guin felt a sense of sadness. He knew that with this failure, his career had come to an end, but at least he would make sure to cause trouble for the Undertaker.

"If it weren't for that damn monster!" Remembering a masked figure, Guin's body trembled.

However, as they argued, in a small corner, a blonde-haired teenager with a distant look was present.

"Are you still angry?"

[...]

Releasing a tired sigh, Yuki, now transformed into Daryl, softly murmured, attempting to start a conversation with Tsugumi. Unfortunately, the usually talkative and cheerful girl remained silent today, clearly upset.

Yuki shook his head, deciding he needed to cook an extra dish for her.

Looking at the scattered soldiers, the transformed lieutenant, Daryl, thought it would be easier to use the lieutenant's appearance briefly.

"What's up, Lieutenant?"

"Nothing."

Shaking his head, Yuki looked at his companion. "Really? Well, it doesn't matter. What truly matters is that we stay alive, even though we're stranded in this place."

Undertaker had sent them to a desolate location, taking them by surprise.

Yuki (Daryl) glanced at Guin, and the corners of his lips curled up.

(It's time to put on an act.)

"Well, well, what do we have here... Who are you?"

With a confused tilted face, Yuki (Daryl) walked towards Guin.

"Hm?"

Turning his gaze angrily, Guin was surprised, not expecting to find Daryl in this place. He was well aware of Daryl's terrible reputation.

Though angered, Guin tried to put on the friendliest face possible. After all, Daryl was the son of the commander in chief.

"It's... surprising to see you here, Lieutenant."

"Yes! I heard there was something fun around here... But," changing his cheerful expression, Yuki (Daryl) furrowed his brow. "Who would have thought I'd come across a failure... I wonder what my father would say if he found out? And the unpleasant defeat of his soldiers... isn't that right, Commander?"

(You lost too!)

Although he thought this, he didn't say anything, knowing that this kid did as he pleased.

Looking at his smile, Guin's body lost all strength. He knew this brat would shift all the blame onto him.

"You!"

Trembling with fury, Guin looked at Daryl.

"But on the other hand... I could put in a good word with my father if, somehow, you return the favor."

Staring into each other's eyes for a moment, Guin was in shock. He never thought Daryl would save his neck. In this situation, a scapegoat would be necessary, especially if GHQ lost to a mere terrorist group, and the 'Reaper' incident would provide enough reason for countries to rise against them.

As if reaching a mutual understanding, a smile appeared on Guin's face.

"What favor are we talking about?"

-----------

"So, the lost soldiers returned, huh?"

Looking at his phone, Segai murmured.

"Yes, sir."

"I see..." Playing with his phone, Segai thought deeply, sensing that something was missing.

Why release the prisoners? Wasn't it better to kill them all as an act of war against GHQ and its dominion?

In Segai's mind, it didn't cross his thoughts for a second that the terrorists would use the hostages as bargaining chips. GHQ had no shortage of soldiers, and moral principles weren't their concern.

Segai knew that the Undertaker weren't idiots and that holding hostages as bargaining chips would only be detrimental, not beneficial.

That made him suspicious.

(A spy, perhaps?)

Quickly reaching a conclusion, Segai supported his chin with his hand. But to infiltrate a spy into GHQ, there were better ways. Infiltrating one at this moment would be a foolish action, and all the missing soldiers would be under surveillance.

(Wait... What if they use a Void?)

Recalling the power of the king, who was in the hands of the 'Reaper,' a smile formed on Segai's face.

The King's power was mysterious, and he had been slowly investigating it for years. He knew that the power of the King could materialize the hearts of people.

(What if there's a Void with the ability to change shape?)

As if a flash of enlightenment passed through his mind, Segai's eyes lit up. Although he knew his assumptions were exaggerated and unbelievable for common people, the power of the King couldn't be judged by ordinary standards.

(I see... So that's your goal.) The smile on Segai's face deepened.

He continued playing with his phone, wearing a huge smile. He looked like a child with a new toy, but he knew he had discovered something very interesting.

(Reaper, will you allow me to see your beauty?)

The small figure on his phone vibrated before Segai lifted his gaze.

-----------

"Interesting! Interesting, don't you think so too, Eva?"

Watching various recordings of the 'Adam,' Yuu smiled.

He found it very interesting and was also surprised. The strength and skill displayed were not something that came from the power of the King.

[No, he isn't Shu.]

"Really? I can see that he's a better 'Adam' than your little King."

Honestly, Yuu could see that Yuki's potential was great, greater than any other he had seen. At the same time, there was something that intrigued him—the heart of this new King. Yuu could see the entire world materializing and forming the heart of this King. It was the first time Yuu had witnessed something like this.

Therefore, with high expectations, if Eva and Adam combined their DNA, they would create a new, more powerful race than the current one. And what better DNA than Yuki's, who possessed strength and skill beyond humans.

[No, not him.]

"Sincerely, I wish you'd stop being picky, Eva. The current Adam would be an excellent candidate for you to have intercourse and procreate the new 'Humanity.'"

[....]

Sighing in defeat, Yuu scratched his head in frustration. He couldn't convince Eva, but that was for now. He didn't know about the future. Yuu was now anticipating the future and the choices this new King would make.

Creating an apple in his hand, Yuu smiled. He looked at the red apple as if it were blood.

"Well, it doesn't matter. We'll meet sooner or later... Adam."
