"Sorry Big Sis, but something came up today! I'll have to cancel!" Irene said out of the blue.
Bodil, Irene, and I were standing in front of the carriage. The plan for today was for Bodil and I to spend the morning together, and then she would spend the rest of her birthday with her sister. I expressed my desire to do the same for Irene tomorrow since it was her birthday. However, Irene suddenly canceled her plans with Bodil.
"Huh? What came up?" Bodil crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.
"That's a secret!" Irene giggled. "Have fun Big Sis! Bye! Happy Birthday! Love you!" She waved as she walked away.
"Now what am I supposed to do?" Bodil muttered under her breath.
"Not like you have a husband or anything," I sighed as I stepped into the carriage.
I offered my head to help her in, but she smacked my hand away. I watched as she took her seat.
"I can get in myself."
"I'm well aware. I was just being a gentleman," I retorted.
