Chapter 1 - The Morning

Monday, September 10, 2022, Heidelberg

Time: 7:34 a.m.

I heard a voice... "Ace" calling her to me. "Ace" she got louder and louder… "ACE! IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR FUCKING ASS OUT OF YOUR BED RIGHT NOW, I WILL BE MAD" I immediately jumped up. Saw my mother standing right next to my bed and looking angry at me. "WHY ARE YOU STILL LYING AROUND IN YOUR BED?" she shouted. "IF YOU DON'T GET UP NOW YOU WILL BE LATE ON YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL SO GET YOUR DIRTY ASS OUT OF YOUR BED AND GET READY FOR SCHOOL" I jumped out of my bed, quickly got dressed, ran to the kitchen to get myself a quick one Making coffee on the go. While the coffee maker made my coffee, I was in the bathroom fixing my hair and brushing my teeth. I didn't want to have a bad reputation in the new class. I graduated from secondary school and wanted to get my high school diploma, but I really have no idea what I want to be when I grow up...

Jan, a friend from back then, said it would be better to get a high school diploma because you could apply or study anywhere. It could be that I suddenly decide to be, what do I know, a police officer or a doctor. My coffee was ready, so I quickly ran downstairs. My mother shouted from the bathroom: "There are 70 euros on the dresser in front of the entrance, I told you that I am researching something new, and it will take about a week". As I put my shoes on, she stood in front of me. "And I want you to behave yourself in this first week, just because the house is only yours this week doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, do you understand me?" "Yes Mom." "Oh, Ace, one more thing before you go". "Yes?". "Be careful, a lot of accidents have been reported in the city lately". "Don't worry Mom," I replied and hugged her. "Have fun Ace," my mother called after me as I ran to the stop.
