Nathanael's pov:
Ava is not being particularly discrete. The way she restlessly taps her foot against the ground in front of the precinct has garnered her a few looks thus far.
I miss the days I could just… be myself as she is. I hope my sister never lives through what forced me to grow the way I have.
"Can you hear her inside the building?" Avery's voice comes from the backseat to pull me out of my thoughts.
"I haven't tried to yet,"
After these words, I shut my eyes, take a deep breath and filter through the many voices within the walls of the precinct. Until two of them stand out to my sense, two familiar ones.
"I could have used your help around here," I believe these are Richard's words.
