"Who are the elders?"
I told Avery that all I wanted to get was water, but he wouldn't believe me. He told me he'd ask someone to bring some to the room for us. He insisted on walking me back, so here we are… Walking back towards the room.
"There are seven of them," he starts, "They constitute the members of our council. In the absence of our leader and their mate, they stand in charge,"
"Why are they called the elders then, instead of council members?" I ask.
"Because they are the oldest wolf shifters alive of this century," he says simply.
He holds his hands behind his back as usual. He stares ahead and avoids looking at me. He seems bothered with something. Well, "bothered" might not be the right word to describe it. He seems saddened by something.
I know there's absolutely no use in asking him about it, as he would either only deflect, deny or just ignore it altogether.
