"Lefiya..."
In her final moments, Filvis smiled. In her last breaths, she had a friend.
When her gaze turned to August, there was no hatred or anger in her eyes—only gratitude. As August had promised, he granted her freedom and allowed her to leave behind a cherished memory in Lefiya's heart.
At the very end, when her eyes shifted to Dionysus, there was only a flicker of sadness and regret.
If there were a next life, she hoped she wouldn't fall in love with a man she shouldn't.
Boom!
Since she had been transformed into a monster, her body turned to ashes upon death, disappearing entirely.
August glanced at Dionysus, whose expression remained unchanged, as if the one who had just died was not one of his own followers.
"You really are Dionysus, the god of wine," August said, his tone calm.
"Are you planning to kill me now?" Dionysus asked with a smile.
"Yes. I won't be at peace until you're dead."
"You'll die trying," Dionysus remarked confidently. The moment he suffered a fatal injury, his divine powers would be unsealed. When that happened, August would be nothing but an ant before the might of a restored god.
He was certain of it—August wouldn't dare kill him. After all, killing a god was not only a grievous crime but also a death sentence.
"I won't die. Not even gods can kill me," August responded with a grin. He now possessed the Sin of Lust, the Sin of Gluttony, and he was the master of the Gate of Sin. It was no exaggeration to say that August was on the verge of becoming an immortal being. His soul was bound by a contract with the Gate of Sin. Even if he were to die, he would be reborn from the endless abyss of sin.
Although only two of the seven deadly sins had returned to him, it was already enough.
Clink!
The Chains of Heaven emerged through a ripple in space, wrapping tightly around Dionysus.
"Is this... the Chains of Divinity? You possess such a divine weapon?"
"I guess I got lucky," August replied casually.
The complete Gate of Babylon had armed August to the teeth. Among its many treasures, the Chains of Heaven, which could bind gods, brought him the most joy. In a world teeming with deities, its value was immeasurable.
"August, simply binding me with the Chains of Divinity won't be enough to kill me," Dionysus said, still unafraid.
Binding a god didn't mean you could kill one.
But August merely smiled. With a wave of his hand, golden ripples appeared in the air. Over the past few days, the Sword of Rupture had already analyzed the rules of this world and could now manifest itself fully.
This was why August had chosen today to make his move—because the conditions were finally right.
As the Sword of Rupture materialized, Dionysus's eyes widened in shock. This sword, this weapon, made him feel something he hadn't felt in eons: fear. This sword had the power to slay a god.
Not only that, but the sword carried the forces of the heavens, the earth, and the underworld within it.
"How... how could a mere mortal possess such a divine weapon?" For the first time, Dionysus, who had always been calm, began to panic.
Gods were supposed to be immortal, invincible. It was this very belief that had made Dionysus so arrogant.
But now, with his life truly in danger, that calmness shattered.
"How ironic. It seems gods are no different from humans after all. In the face of death, you tremble, you panic, you fear," August mocked, his voice cold.
"August, you dare to defy the divine! Do you even know what you're doing?"
"Of course. I'm clearing the trash in my way."
Boom!
The three blades of the Sword of Rupture, representing Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld, began to spin, creating a crimson storm of magical energy and an overwhelming force.
"The Chains of Heaven can bind the divine, and the Sword of Rupture can slay gods. Dionysus, you should consider yourself honored—you'll be the first god to fall to this blade."
Dionysus's face darkened at these words. The first god to be slain? The shame! If this got out, he would be remembered on the pillar of disgrace for millennia.
"Goodbye, Dionysus."
"August!!!"
Slash!
The Sword of Rupture pierced through Dionysus's body, and divine blood spilled out like a flood.
At the same time, the seal that had held back his divine power shattered, unleashing a torrent of godly energy.
But August only smiled. He grabbed Dionysus and, in the blink of an eye, they were transported to a pocket dimension.
Dionysus found himself in an unfamiliar world. Here, he could no longer sense the heavens, the earth, or the other gods.
Boom!
In this pocket world, Dionysus's divine power was fully restored, and he returned to his true divine form.
"Mortal, you will die."
Dionysus's gaze was filled with murderous intent, but the Chains of Heaven still bound him, restricting his divine power.
"Did you really think that a mere chain could bind a god? Foolish!"
Snap!
With a powerful struggle, Dionysus began to break the Chains of Heaven. Though they were a weapon capable of binding gods, even they had their limits. A god as powerful as Dionysus could break free.
"Did you really think I brought you here by accident?" August asked calmly.
"What are you talking about?"
Boom!
The power of the world itself descended upon Dionysus.
The chains that had begun to break reformed instantly, locking him down once again.
"Dionysus, this is my world. Though you may be a god, even a small world like this wields immense power."
"This... this energy... No, it can't be! You have the World Tree?"
"Why not? Goodbye, Dionysus."
"Curse you, mortal!"
"Awaken, Sword of Rupture, and cut down this god before me—Enuma Elish!"
Unleashing the full power of the Sword of Rupture, August slashed down at Dionysus.
Slash!
The divine body, which had just recovered its power, was pierced once again. But this time, the wound was fatal.
"Curse you, mortal... How dare you slay a god! I curse you! From this life to the next, you will be hunted by all the gods, forever!"
In his final moments, Dionysus cast a divine curse upon August.
