"Without sufficient power, one should not attempt to control forces beyond their grasp."
This was August's assessment of Loki. It was undeniable that creating a being like Fenrir indicated Loki was no ordinary individual. Otherwise, he wouldn't have earned his fearsome reputation in Norse mythology.
However, controlling Fenrir, turning it into a weapon in his hand, was beyond what Loki could manage.
Fenrir, already gravely injured, seemed driven by hatred or anger as it slowly rose to its feet. Despite its wounds, it remained the God-Devouring Wolf.
"What are you trying to do, you damned beast? Do you intend to devour your master?"
"Grrr..."
Without any hesitation, Fenrir bit off Loki's head and swallowed it.
But it didn't end there. Fenrir quickly devoured Loki's entire body.
Loki's fate was truly tragic. His greatest creation, his most powerful card, turned out to be his final doom.
*AOOOOOOOU*
After consuming Loki, Fenrir let out a long, triumphant howl, releasing all its pent-up emotions. It had finally killed its tormentor.
However, with Loki dead, Fenrir now faced another choice: to submit to the man before him.
Ordinarily, with Fenrir's pride, it would rather die than submit to anyone.
But August was different. He had defeated Fenrir head-on with absolute power. Though Fenrir's strength had been diminished by Loki, a defeat was still a defeat.
August took out a demonic chess piece, a black pawn, and it floated before Fenrir.
"Fenrir, what is your decision?"
August stared at Fenrir, and Fenrir returned his gaze.
After a long moment of hesitation, Fenrir swallowed the evil piece, surprising August.
Agreeing was one thing, but swallowing the piece?
August was speechless. However, it didn't hinder the reincarnation ritual.
Buzz~
A deep green crest symbolizing the sin of Lust appeared beneath Fenrir. A Power of Darkness and demonic power flowed into Fenrir, beginning the reincarnation process.
Boom~
During this process, the restrictions Loki had placed on Fenrir shattered.
Fenrir's power surged dramatically, surpassing the level of Satan and reaching that of a Transcendent Super-Class.
In an instant, August realized a problem with the reincarnation ritual: a single pawn piece wasn't enough to complete Fenrir's reincarnation.
This made sense. The greater the reincarnation potential and the stronger the creature, the more pieces it required.
Without hesitation, August, who had a total of sixteen pawn pieces, confidently continued the ritual.
He inserted a second piece, then a third, a fourth, until he had used up eight demonic chess pieces to complete Fenrir's reincarnation.
August was astonished. This was on par with the original protagonist, Issei Hyoudou.
This was the full-powered Fenrir, an entity comparable to the peak Two Heavenly Dragons, a top-tier Transcendent.
Now that Fenrir was on his side, August didn't hold back. He took out a Phoenix Tear and healed all of Fenrir's wounds.
[Congratulations, host, for completing the hidden task: Taming the God-Devouring Wolf. Reward: Advanced Gacha Draw x6!]
August was momentarily stunned. He had completed a mission as well?
With six high-level draw cards in hand, August felt a surge of excitement. It had been a while since he had the chance to draw cards again.
Boom!
Suddenly, the sound of battle in the distance drew August and Fenrir's attention.
August looked over to see that the fight on the other side was still ongoing. Hilda, wielding her umbrella-sword, was locked in combat with Fenrir's two offspring, Hati and Skoll, while Yolda was engaged with Midgardsormr.
Roar!
Fenrir let out a thunderous roar, and instantly, Hati and Skoll halted their attacks.
Despite Loki's commands, Fenrir's will held greater sway over his children.
"My lord, you..."
"Fenrir is now my peerage. From now on, we are one family."
"What?"
Hilda looked incredulously at the massive Fenrir before her.
This was the legendary God-Devouring Wolf, now tamed by her master?
"Hello..."
Hilda greeted Fenrir, but the wolf dismissed her with a cold glance.
Hilda felt awkward and turned to August for help.
August sighed inwardly. Fenrir's pride was deeply ingrained; he looked down on even the Norse gods, let alone a mere demon maid like Hilda.
"Fenrir, we're all family now. Show some respect."
"Grrr..."
Reluctantly, Fenrir let out a soft growl in Hilda's direction before turning away.
Hilda smiled wryly. Fenrir's acknowledgment, however reluctant, was more than she could have hoped for. After all, the strong always had their privileges.
"My lord, could you lend me a hand?"
Yolda's voice called out, breaking their focus. August and Hilda suddenly remembered her plight.
"Fenrir~"
August patted Fenrir and glanced at Midgardsormr.
Fenrir looked displeased. A mere replica, and they needed his help? If it had been the original, he might have been more interested.
However, though unwilling, Fenrir acknowledged his master's authority and stepped forward.
'Roar~'
Fenrir leapt into the air, descending swiftly and pinning Midgardsormr to the ground with a single powerful swipe.
With one bite, Fenrir pierced Midgardsormr's neck. After a brief struggle, the serpent fell lifeless to the ground.
This replica of Midgardsormr had only the strength of an ultimate-class being.
Against Fenrir, restored to full power, it was no match.
August hurried over, tossing Midgardsormrs corpse into his personal pocket dimension. Though just a replica, it was still Midgardsormr, the Dragon of the End, and a valuable asset.
Fenrir couldn't understand August's intentions. Was he only supposed to fight so that August could collect the spoils?
With Midgardsormrdealt with, August turned his attention to Hati and Skoll in the distance.
