The next morning, the morning light was shining through the windows so brightly that I ended up waking up. I opened my eyes slowly and to my surprise, Bartolomea was not next to me, even though at night we had slept in the same bed together, which seemed very strange to me. Maybe he hates me, I thought.
Then the doors to my chamber were slammed open. The castle servants came in and gave me a coat, quite comfortable sandals, and brought me breakfast right in bed. All of this seemed strange to me, since I was not used to the luxuries of royalty, such as having servants do the work that I did every morning. Nor wearing those luxurious velvet sandals, nor the silk coat they brought me.
Having wrapped myself up, I got out of bed, yawned a little and approached one of the large windows of my chamber with the intention of opening them a little, so that a little ventilation could enter.
I pushed aside the curtains and proceeded to open the large windows, extending them to the sides. Then, the windows revealed a small stone balcony, from which the refreshing morning air could enter with a little breeze.
I stood up and walked towards the balcony drinking a white cup of coffee that the castle servants had given me. Suddenly I started thinking about how great it was to be a monarch, I was already enjoying it despite it being my first day being a nobility.
Now I was one of the main people in charge of this kingdom and I could not disappoint my new subjects. From now on, my main mission was to turn Sorenberg into a magical civilization, unique in its kind, which for me was essential, so I decided to summon the town to announce my new development plan.
After my servants dressed me in my black prince's outfit, I left my chamber and ordered the bells of the temples and cathedrals to be rung, as well as those of Queen Bartolomea's main castle. It was a call to call a meeting in the town's public square. Everyone in Sorenberg came forward, children, teenagers, men and women. Even witches, although they remained hidden, blending into the crowd so as not to be seen by the royal authorities.
At that point, I went out to the kingdom's pavilion and saw all the people gathered in the square, which made me happy because I was about to give them an announcement that would change their lives and of course, would change the course of this kingdom and the entire civilization. .
"Companions, inhabitants of Sorenberg, I have gathered you together to give you this announcement. From now on, witches and wizards will not be persecuted but will be considered citizens of the entire kingdom and subjects of the crown of Sorenberg like all of you. Witches and wizards will now be your equals, and will be treated fairly under the law."
At that, the crowd shook and everyone in the square began to murmur among themselves. Some booed and threw stones at the pavilion, others just looked surprised and scared at what would happen to them with this new decree.
"But they are sent from the devil!" shouted others, "they murdered King Alaric!"
"That is false!" scream with all my might. "Witches are innocent. Yesterday we held a trial for the witch Melissa, who was accused of murdering his majesty Alaric, however, according to the tests we carried out, she turned out to be innocent of all charges. The murderer came from a distant land and we are sure that he will face justice.
Not only that, but, personally, I realized that the magic they use can be of great help to the kingdom, to advance us to a new civilization where magic improves our quality of life and we believe we can achieve a golden age. of magic
My intention is to create a new civilization of magicians which will subsequently spread throughout all the lands. Feel lucky to be the cornerstone of this new civilization, you are the first to experience this change. "
However, the town was still shaken, they did not stop talking among themselves and throwing stones at the castle. But what have I said that has bothered you? I asked myself. Do they really have a deep hatred towards witches?
Then, the bishop appears behind me who slowly touches my shoulder with his right hand telling me.
My lord, "the people do not like witches. They are sent from satan. They practice doctrines of demons, we cannot accept them as subjects of the crown, much less as citizens with all the rights that the residents have, we cannot make this change so sudden."
"Bishop, I am sure that people will be able to accept the witches. "Now it is state policy to treat them as our fellow human beings, they will be treated as Christians."
"Sir, we can't do that!" exclaimed the bishop. "Be treated like Christians? That is the worst, we cannot defile the holy church in such a vile way. They will never be accepted into the congregation of Christ. "They are sent by the devil to torment the people of God."
"I am the prince of this land. And if you want the alliance with my kingdom to continue and last for centuries, you will have to obey me, otherwise, I will break all agreements and return to my land. "I will divorce Queen Bartholomea and there will be no alliance but only enmity between you."
With that said, I left the pavilion and returned to my actual office. Deep down, I knew how important the alliance with my kingdom was to them, since it was necessary to combat the pagan kingdoms and any threat that came our way. Furthermore, I could always return to my home kingdom and take the Sorenberg witches back to my domain. There he could create that magical civilization that he so coveted.
