Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Amelia bones was working late as usual. Ever since Voldemort's defeat and thus the various trials of death eaters that came, she had become very busy. First was her new position as Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement or DLME for short. She had a lot of paperwork to do: Aurors to train, paperwork to fill out and various other political and bureaucratic nonsense work to do as well as raising her niece as she was the last of the family she had left with all others being murdered by those Merlin damned death eaters. Why Dumbledore pushed for Azkaban and not death was beyond her understanding but thus was the mind of the leader of the light.

While thinking of Azkaban a certain man came to her mind, someone who she once loved and who she thought she would marry. That someone broke her trust, her heart and betrayed everyone by joining Voldemort and betraying his best friend. This train of thought however was interrupted by a dog patronus appearing Infront of her, a patronus she recognized as the man's she was just thinking of and her thoughts were confirmed by his voice that came through the spell.

"Amelia it's me Sirius, you have to believe me, I didn't do it, I wasn't even given a trial. I wasn't the secret keeper. Interrogate me and find out the truth. I am still in prison."

As the patronus disappeared Amelia sat on her chair stunned by what she just heard but it clicked in her mind a few moments later, her head said that he wasn't to be trusted but her heart wanted nothing more than to trust him. Regardless of what her heart and head said her duty compelled her to check out his claims as if he lied about not having a trial then he was defiantly not to be trusted about anything else so she spent the rest of the night digging through all of the departments files to find out the truth.

Sirus was not having a fun time. Despite having Sirius's memories of pain he had endured in his life he himself did not enjoy or was accustomed to it. Why was he experiencing pain? Well, his brilliant plan of freeing himself involved attacking one of the guards when they came to feed him, this actually worked surprisingly well which was weird since this is a max security prison but he wasn't one to look a gift horse in its mouth. Once the guard was knocked out which was exhausting to do with his malnourished body he took the wand the guard had and called upon the happy memories he has from his past life as well has the memories from this life and cast the patronus charm. He was awed by the sight of the silvery white dog that floated around until he heard commotion from the other guards heading his way. He used this time to send a message through his patronus to the only person he thought could or would help him. His former fiancé and auror Amelia. He wasn't sure when she becomes head of the DMLE but from his inherited memories she was just a high level auror when Sirius went to prison. Shortly after his message was sent the guards beat the living crap out of him. So, while his plan so far was working he wasn't enjoying it but the memory of casting his first spell made it worth it.

Amelia was currently heading to Azkaban to see Sirius. During her investigation she could not find a single document that showed that he was either interrogated or had a trial. She was beating herself up for not realizing it sooner. She had always assumed she hadn't heard about his trial because of her status at the time of being engaged to him but now it seems like he just didn't get a trial at all. Now she was here with Senior Auror Moony and scribe Johnson to interrogate Sirius Black officially before she could even hope to get him out of this hell.

Walking into the interrogation room which was rarely used as not a lot of people wanted to visit this desolate place. After a short wait she saw Sirius brought in and sat down. She was shocked at what she saw. He no longer looked like the suave charming handsome man she fell for but now looked thin, disheveled and not to mention covered in welts, bruises and dried blood.

"What happened to you?" She asked Sirius.

"Hello to you too Amelia, well I had to get forceful with a guard to use his wand to send that message and the guards weren't to happy with that. It was worth it though since you are here." Sirius spoke with a smile which looked anything but charming with his face slightly swollen.

Before this banter could continue Mooney interrupted.

"Madam Bones if we could continue."

"Oh right... this is head of the DMLE along with Senior Auror Mooney and Scribe Johnson interrogating Sirius Black on May 11th, 1985, in relation to his arrest and involvement with he-who-will-not-be-named as well as the betrayal of the Potter family."

As all members of the ministry agreed verbally, she continued.

"Sirius Black do you consent to Veritas serum?"

"Yes, I do" agreed the haggard looking Sirius.

Once agreement was made Mooney poured the serum into the prisoner's mouth, after a few moments Amelia proceeded.

"Now that the verified Veritas serum had been administered we will proceed with questioning."
