Millenniums ago during the era of the battle of gods and devils, a terrifying war that destroyed the balance of the universe, a war that shaked the core of the universe.
The war caused the death, the destruction of many civilizations, countless worlds. Billions of innocent people died in the fruition of the war, the war was so bad that the after effect caused a part of the universe to be tainted.
This tainted part was cut off from the original universe and left to float alone in chaos, the tainted energy which a sliver of it could kill even the greatest mortal cultivators.
This foreign energy caused the death of almost all living creatures in that part of the universe, but if the humans have a special ability it would be the ability to survive and adapt in many dangerous and perilous situations in hard times.
After the war ended the faction who won ultimately decided that those part of the universe was dead , and if anyone was alive they wouldn't even try to save them. They where planning to go back later when they have filled their losses and strengthened themselves and their forces.
In the tainted universe, since no one could cultivate anymore they all lost their powers and became sickly mortals which they repulsed. As that happened many old cultivators died without passing techniques which essentially cut off the martial inheritance for the humans but there where many who still left an inheritance for the humans.
The beasts somehow started getting stronger, smarter and started treating the human civilization as their foods. This lead to a great catastrophe until some humans started coming out with different powers, which was called their innate talents and started fending off against the beast.
This proved reassuring until the beasts kept on getting stronger and stronger, this was a period in time when the humans where pushed to a corner their potential started showing off different kinds of innate talent started appearing until finally after suffering for hundreds of years a genius finally rose up from the mortals.
He was called 'Li wang' he created a technique which allowed the humans to absorb the tainted energy in their body to make it as strong as the beasts. This created the rise of body cultivators, as they said '' Every act of creation begins with an act of destruction.''
From just his creation countless experts rose, but the war with the beast wasn't over yet. They just started cultivating too late, there were behemoth beast who could already destroy mountains with a flick of a hand. Although we also have those experts on our side, they were just too little.
The beast had dozens of experts on that caliber, while we only had a measly number of four. While it may seem that we were small, we were also strong so strong that one of our experts could fight two to three of those behemoths at once. So while it may seem that the beasts over numbered us we where also strong enough to deal real damage in a war with them so they came together and formed a peace treaty.
Years passed and different path of cultivating came out, some cultivated by increasing their control with their innate talents to the limit which created many famous bloodlines and some actually broke the limit of their innate talent standing as deity's to the world, some cultivated by absorbing the tainted energy into their body and storing it making them stronger in where a move could shatter mountains to pebbles, and the mysterious way that many people couldn't start, the cultivation of the soul.
From this path came people who could control some beast making them beast tamers, while some could put you in an illusion without you even knowing and even perhaps controlling them.
And finally a group of people who hunt beasts and soak in their bloods for increasing their strength.
But all this came with a major flaw, except for most people cultivating the soul. If they are not careful they could go mad (bedeviled) while cultivating, because of the tainted energy. The energy wasn't made for cultivation but for destruction so when they cultivated they should hardly be disturbed, most especially if they are just starting their path.
As they get stronger the ravings they get from the energy gets stronger and louder, and if they are not careful they could get bedeviled and also mutate. This is a major reason why most cultivators need cultivators from the soul path, the illusionist to be precise. The illusionist could soothe their minds and calm their thoughts, it doesn't stop the ravings but alleviate the circumstances a little.
The plants started adapting to the energy, and that came the time of natural treasures. You could eat a fruit which will increase your cultivation like you cultivated for two years, and this lead to the rise of civil wars.
For the sake of the natural treasures friends started turning on each other, brothers started killing brothers. As this was happening tainted lands started forming in some locations around the world, strong expert started creating their own factions to collect more resources.
Factions rose and fell sects started appearing and empires started coming together and started war on each other just for the resources, the war lead to the rise of four major factions, the church (believers) faction, the assassins (blood hall) faction, the sect (boundless) faction and the empires faction.
Although this lead to the rise of four major factions, it also lead to the decrease in the overall strength of humanity. The beasts saw this as a time to destroy the ants (humans) who kept hindering their plans and they struck at that opportune moment, millions of mortals were killed.
This sparked the anger of the four major faction and they started attacking the beast, although the overall strength of humanity has reduced the individual strength of some people had increased. Most of the beasts were dealt with and a number of them escaped, after the second humans and beast war ended the beasts agreed that all the beast with a specific realm of cultivation or higher were not allowed to leave the beast continent if something like that happens the beast would br killed by various faction.
Years later
A rare moment of peace washed through the world, cultivators were getting along into the major factions found the dead body of an expert from the time of the war of gods and devils.
This sparked the second civil war, the war held on for years until the factions realized if they continued they would get overthrown by the beast. So they came together and formed an agreement, the sects took the head, the churches the chest, the assassin the leg, and the empires the hands.
