Having reached 200 Million followers several months ago a woman with platinum blonde hair and bright purple eyes looked out of her bedroom window wistfully. Since the fight with captain Britain the world had changed massively. The entirety of Humanity uniting into the Veritas Imperium, quality of life has increased, longevity was now in the range of thousands of years and technology was constantly zooming ahead.
As it was she had just finished a stream with over 100,000 people active within. She had AI assistants to aid her in managing the chatroom, managing her camera and desktop as she spoke and to also serve her drinks through a robot that she had bought with the money that had been donated to her. Wistfulness was soon replaced by alertness as a beep noise resounded from her email, a new message appearing as a red flash on her browser.
Frowning she reached for her mouse and quickly opened the email. The screen flashed in white as it loaded the page, a refined and impressive looking document from the Veritas Imperium revealing itself to her eyes within a second. Reading through the content her jaw dropped progressively after each sentence, by the end having a totally agape mouth with tears slowly leaking from the corner of her eyes. She hadn't been ignored by the woman she had met. Apparently she was also a part of the Veritas Imperium as well!
In an excited rampage-dance she stood up and began running through her house, her screams coming out more as squeals as her dogs chased after her feet. By the end of the upheaval she was sitting at her dining room table, her lush looking lounge room visible through an open section in the wall that merged the rooms. Her dogs were running around her legs still with their tongues lulling out, their moods ignited by the streamer's rambunctious celebration. The front door made a creaking noise as she breathed in deeply, her excitement slowly forming into nervousness as she would have to possibly blur the lady and also cover up her name... Especially since this woman was the one defending us from the supernatural world.
Stepping through into the dining room was a woman who looked exactly like her but with deeper lines in the face, more worn skin and a small whiting of the purely blonde hair. This look-alike carried a small purse that she quickly put down on the table before sighing deeply and looking at the streamer.
"Nice to see you too Maeve..."
"Ah! H-hi mum! Sorry, I was stuck in my thoughts."
"What's got you so thoughtful?"
The older woman, Maeve's mother, took off her white coat and sat down whilst she looked at her daughter. Said daughter was currently sweating within her mind at explaining the seriousness of the interview with her mother. Her mother didn't take her online streaming as anything serious and was constantly pushing her to find someone to marry so she could have grandkids at some stage.
"W-well, let's just say that I got a huge deal for my streaming."
"Ughh, that silly stuff? Seriously? Why don't you get a real job?"
"Mum... I got an email from the Veritas Imperium, one of their members is wanting to join me to do an interview."
This got her mother's attention as she blinked several times and tilted her head a little. Maeve had seen her mother like this only a few times and it was usually only during the times her father had done something crazy. It worried her for a little bit until her mother stood up and walked up, giving her a hug.
"Are you speaking the truth...?"
"Yes mum! I finally got that interview I mentioned those years ago."
Her mother continued to hug her before joining Maeve upstairs and looking at the email with her. Both of them were so excited to see it there still that they stayed up all night and brainstormed questions for her to ask the representative that would come for the interview. That night the robot was the only one to sleep, the dogs being way too excited by their humans' activities.
...
Waking up in the afternoon Maeve was surprised to a see a response so quickly to the message she and her mother had sent last night. With the Government there was usually a wait time of around a day or two before emails and letters were answered, this was way too quick for usual.
` Thank you for your message, we would like to organise an interview for three days after this email was originally sent. This interview will last as long as the President wishes it to. The current start time will be at 12PM British Standard Time. The Praetorian Guard will meet you two days before the Interview for security concerns.
Thank you for your patience. `
As she read this the front door was heavily knocked as she heard multiple flying cars drop down from the sky and come to a stop in front of her home. Black cars with large cargo space parked on the street as at either end of the street there were normal clean-energy propelled cars of similar colour also parking. The car's doors opened to reveal men and women that were all beautiful and powerful looking. Black and gold armour adorned their forms as surrounding them were soldiers of a normal height and stature carrying automatic rifles. Neighbours tried to protest some of the actions and were immediately met with several staff of the Veritas Imperium that went inside their homes to discuss things with them.
The sound of helicopters going overhead made Maeve drop her drink to the floor next to her as the dogs began barking downstairs. Her mother was yelling for her as well, calm knocks falling on the front door to her house. In a panic she ran down the stairs towards her mother who was looking utterly confused and going towards the front door.
"Mum! Let me answer...!"
"Don't be silly, gosh you really do need to speak with more real people..."
Sprinting to follow after her mother she was too late as her mum opened the front door. Both of their eyes slowly creeped up the form of a spectacularly beautiful woman. Red hair and green eyes blazing in vibrancy as she wore golden-black armour that hummed softly with small cogitators and servos clinking every so often.
"Hello, we've been sent here by the president to confirm the security of your house and neighbourhood. Could we come in?"
Maeve gulped the saliva that had accumulated within her mouth at the sight of the intimidating Government figure. Praetorians were utterly secretive and very rarely were they ever revealed to the public... Now not only one, but possibly many, requested to come within their house and with politeness too.
"S-s-sure..."
...
Sitting around the dining table were four Praetorian Guards and several agents of organisations that Maeve didn't know. Coffees were being made by her mother for all of them whilst receiving thanks from all of the agents and praetorians. Outside Maeve noticed several dogs and tactical teams scouring the back yard and the adjacent housing. Every now and then the glint of light flashed from nearby rooftops as sniper teams had been setup in advance.
It had been an hour since they had first arrived and the house had been combed several times. They had left some things private for Maeve and her mother, their computers, their appliances and those were about it... The security teams moved out after another hour, taking up residence across from our house, the neighbours seemingly content about the arrangement as all of the cars were re-arranged and disappeared into the back yard of the neighbour's house.
"Maeve... I still had some minor doubts last night..."
"I bet you don't now mum."
"You'd be right."
