I arrived at work with a terrible hangover.
"You're making a face, Jomei!"
said a colleague.
This morning I was too focused on my project, so I only drank 1L of energy drink.
The cold water running down my throat gradually woke me up, and I was able to be productive in what I was doing.
"How about a game of UBH?"
I heard the voice of one of my comrades in the distance.
"How far along are you?"
"I don't know, you're not very strong, I hear..."
I stared at this person. I couldn't figure out if he cared about me or if it was just pity.
"As you wish."
"Then let's do path 8!"
Why, he's only got that far.
So we quickly launched the game and began the 8th path.
In this one, you had to survive a wave of zombies while protecting a small village.
During the game, I asked him a few questions.
"And what's your name, anyway?"
"Kaemon Senichi and you're Jomei Hiroya, right?"
He already knew my name. I let out a sigh of annoyance.
"If I'm playing with you, it's because there was no one else who wanted to."
Another one who's here out of interest...
"But it'll let you know one thing, there's a bonus in this path..."
I was very used to this challenge, having repeated it several times. The strategy was to kill the origin. So that's what I did, and within moments the village was saved.
"Phew... That was fast!"
"And what was the bonus you were talking about?"
"If you manage to save the village without any damage, you earn solar wings. A card that lets you fly high and far."
"That's not very interesting..."
He looked at me and started laughing.
"You didn't understand, why do you think you're a noob? People use his wings to jump levels!"
"Wait are you serious? How far do they go?"
"The maximum you can reach is level 49, but in reality it's called level 9 as everyone skips it."
So all these years... If I sucked so much, it was because I didn't have this detail.
"It's a cheat code that was discovered on a mod of the game, but the developers didn't notice that it also existed on the original game."
It's true that before the release of UBH a modder had created a Beta version.
"So much the better, my project will be able to finish sooner!"
"What are you talking about?"
I returned home without even waiting for the day to end.
I had to finish it today at all costs.
After an hour and a half of hard work, I was finally done.
"I'm done! In those 3 years, the Mod I created on this game, I've finally finished it!"
