Chapter 2 - Extreme Desolate Wasteland

Actually, besides those two things which could be said to be top-notch providence, he didn't have any other talent. Be it cultivation aptitude or unique physiques, he had absolutely nothing. All his talents had been average before the system came. If it didn't give him anything else but cultivation resources and treasures in the future, he would probably stay mediocre for life.

He probably needed another three to four more days to break through to the fifth-level Body-tempering. It took a little longer to cultivate in the mid-level Body-tempering than the time he used in the early stages. He also needed to stabilize his cultivation base at the fourth-level Body-tempering.

It took roughly half a day to completely consolidate his foundation.

Breathing out and expelling foul qi, Jun Yunjun slowly opened his eyes and exited his cultivation state.

Coming to his senses, he immediately frowned helplessly.

His body was emitting an extremely foul odor. Black goo was oozing out of the pores of his skin.

"It's bath time, dear!" Jun Yunjun imitated a high-pitched voice and called softly to himself. There was no one else in this desolate cave abode, so how could a female call out to him for a bath out of nowhere? It wasn't like he was the protagonist of a xianxia novel who could meet fated women everywhere. The surrounding region was the most desolate wasteland in this world. Even a bird would disdain to put his droppings here.

Jun Yunjun coughed to suppress his embarrassment.

He stood up and made his way to the entrance of the cave abode. Outside, there was a scenery of mountain peaks covered in clouds. However, the clouds weren't pure white like normal clouds. There was desolate waste qi suffused into them, which made the clouds look extremely dirty. The mountains were also jagged and looked sinister. Everything was cold and bleak.

Jun Yunjun was indifferent. He had already been here for ten days, so he was more or less used to it.

Walking along the cliff face, he soon came across a small waterfall. This waterfall seemed to be protected by a mysterious power. The surrounding thousand meters was like a paradise in the mortal world, with spirit herbs and trees growing on every inch of land. Small spirit beasts were lying leisurely next to the pool formed by the waterfall or were eating the spirit herbs and fruits growing on the spirit trees.

This small area was a domain rewarded by the system when he first transmigrated into this world.

He walked toward the pool and shooed away the little spirit beasts bathing in the water. He also kicked the sleeping spirit beasts awake and scared them away. What a joke. It was his turn to bathe. Would he want to be stared at by so many little pairs of eyes? They weren't even human. So what if they were female? He would chase them away. Those small spirit beasts were harmless herbivores and had the intelligence of dumb chickens. Moreover, they had no cultivation and were somewhat similar to livestock. It was already noon and he hadn't eaten breakfast. Perhaps he could catch one that looked like a chicken and have roasted chicken seasoned with spirit herb spices for lunch. He could even make desserts out of the spirit fruits and turn them into smoothies.

Jun Yunjun was in a good mood and hummed as he took off his clothes, which were ick with disgusting black slush. He could wash them in the little stream beside the pool later. Throwing away all caution, he embraced freedom and leaped off the rocks to dive into the pool in a beautiful diving form.

Splash!

His body didn't create any big waves as he entered the water. He dived until he was at the bottom of the pool before surging up like a whale. He broke the surface of the water and actually leaped like a dolphin! With his cultivation, he could accomplish many feats which were impossible for ordinary people.

Even though it was a pool, the water was always running toward the little stream beside it. Moreover, the water wasn't ordinary. It was actually spirit water. Any filth would be quickly cleansed and evaporated.

As he leaned back against the rocks and sat in the water on a shallow part of the pool, Jun Yunjun's thoughts began to wander. From his body's original memories, he found out that this region was called the Extreme Desolate Wasteland. It could be said to be an abandoned region that no cultivator wanted to step into. The spirit qi of heaven and earth was extremely sparse here, being corroded and replaced by the omnipresent extreme desolate waste qi. Cultivation was also extremely slow and strenuous, if not impossible at all. Were it not for the system rewarding a cave abode with a treasure that produced spirit qi, Jun Yunjun would not have been able to cultivate so leisurely.

Soon, he dozed off as the carefree atmosphere was too intoxicating. He probably wouldn't wake up until night came or even in the morning the next day. It couldn't be helped. After the toxins were expelled from his body and it was further refined, his body also consumed a lot of energy. Sleep was the best natural way to take care of that. In the early realms of mortal cultivation, especially in the Body-tempering realm, one's bodily needs were simply like a superhuman who didn't stray too far from the strongest ordinary human.
