Ding Dong!
As soon as Jessica heard the doorbell ring, she rushed as fast as she could to the door.
"Finally!" She exclaimed.
The VR helmet along with the game that will open their first server tonight finally got delivered after 2 weeks of waiting.
The deliveryman that stood infront of the opened door handed over the big cardboard box. Jessica thanked the guy before she closed the door.
"Kekeke... Im looking forward to blow some shit up!" She said as she was thinking back to the trailer of the game. In it, the revolutionary game company "RITO", showcased their latest game.
From footage and claims that you could experience the five senses perfectly, to in depth AI, and even the fact that they've made a streaming platform that works and can perfectly livestream content within the game.
But then came the thing that Jessica was exited about the most.
Boom*
The video showed a woman casting a magical fireball that exploded a wolf upon impact. Fire burned the corpse laying on the ground.
"Fuck, That explosion looked so realistic!"
...
"This is way too graphic for my teenage kid to play, they should up the age limit from 16 to 18 years old!"
...
"Dont worry, they said earlier in the trailer that you can turn gore on and off."
...
"So whatever language you speak within the game will be translated to your chosen language? That must have taken alot of time to implement."
...
The commenters below the video all showed different reactions. From pure exitement to worries wether their kids could play this.
Jessica was so hyped up by the magic showcased within the video that she instantly bought the game when it finally came on the market.
After unpacking the box and turning it on, Jessica put on her helmet and changed the settings to what she wanted.
"Gore? On of course. I don't want to miss any details when I blow up my enemies."
She looked at the language option and selected english as that was the only language she knew.
She wanted to check out all options but after skimming through them all, she stopped halfway.
...
She continued looking at the two options she was currently staring at. Jessica was bewildered as she read it out loud.
"Show nudity: on/off"
"Protection of private parts: on/off"
She immediately turned the first off and the second on. There was even an option to select what she deemed as "private" as in some cultures even showing your ankles as a woman in public is wrong.
Jessica immediately decided to select her chest and the area covering her hip as private. She got to see an avatar of her exact self wearing a black bra and panty, and was satisfied with how it looked and how well it covered.
Apparently, this set of underwear was indestructable and unmovable within the game. As she read this info, she heaved a sigh of relief.
"Its a good thing that the protection of private parts is on and set as a lingerie set as standard for woman, and boxer shorts for men. Imagine if this wasn't the case and someone forgot to turn it on..."
She looked at her avatar within this white space that looked exactly like herself. It was around 185 cm tall with a slim figure. Her hair painted dark blue and she has a beautiful symmetrical face with a small button nose. Jessica wasn't gifted with a busty figure, but she wasn't 'flat' as some people would call it.
She recalled the bet she lost a week ago to one of her friends which is why she had to paint her originally blonde hair dark blue.
"I'm still not used to having dark blue hair... at least it fits pretty well with my light blue eyes." She said to herself as she tried to comfort herself.
She noticed that there wasn't an option to change her avatar. "So everyone will look exactly like they do in real life in the game huh..." she said.
There were still a few hours before the server opens. She had already done all preparations in advance so she decided to scroll through some of the information about the game from the official website.
Apparently, there are no defined classes. The company stated that they decided to do this as it would limit the freedom within the game. And that was precisely one of the main points about this game. The freedom to do whatever you wanted in this fantasy medival second word.
Instead, you had to learn skills and magic with your own perception and these would then be shown on your skill list if the system estimated you had shown a high enough level of mastery.
Time flew by as she kept on reading a variaty of information about background settings of the game but this was the most notible part. The company had on purpose released as little information as possible so that people are more incentivised to explore on their own.
Ping*
She got a text from her elder brother who had already moved out of their parents house who was also very hyped for the game.
"Have you decided yet how you are going to play the game? You big brother is going to become a berserker. (: "
As Jessica texted him back and called him an idiot because there aren't any classes in the game, she heard a ringing.
The timer she set to 5 minutes before the launch went off and she exitedly put on her helmet. She logged in to the game and waited for the count down in front of her eyes to count to zero without waiting for a reply from her idiot brother.
As the timer went from 00:00:01 to 00:00:00, her eyes got assaulted by a bright white light. She grunted as her vision slowly went from all white back to various colors and shapes.
When her vision was entirely back to normal, Jessica took a good look around her. She noted that she was currently lying down on an altar within a church. But Jessica not only saw it- she felt it. "Its cold... not only that, it smells a bit musty."
Astonished by how real it all feels, she almost couldn't believe it. As she continues to focus on all of her senses, she noticed a statue behind her. She got up to get a good look at it.
It was a big statue, as big as 2 meters tall. It was a muscular human holding a compass. The stone man gave her a peculiar feeling, not just because it was so handsome.
She wasn't surprised by the fact that her starting point was on an altar because through the information she read, Jessica learnt that the setting of this world was so that the players were prophesied travelers from another world guided by the god of Travel.
Jessica assumed this statue to be of that particular god. While she was engrossed in her thoughts, she heard a male voice behind her.
"Ahem, hello there young lady."
