Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 Ancient Markings

The group lucked out as the on-duty guard had fallen asleep. They moved swiftly towards the gate, utilizing the cover of the night. Phil opened the door, leading the others inside silently. They dashed towards the mountains, making their way to one of the caves buried underneath, a small opening just enough for one person. One by one, they passed the entrance and entered the cave. Contrary to their expectations, the cave was dark and musty.

"Eliza, I thought you said this was going to be an interesting place. I see nothing fun here," Ethan said after flashing his flashlight around the cave disappointedly. Only strange markings adorned the cave walls. Isabelle moved closer to one of them and inspected it.

"Hey, Moris! Come here... How long have these been here?" She pointed to the markings, grabbing the attention of the others.

Moris, known for his expertise in ancient Egyptian writing, put on his glasses, rubbing his hand over the writings. "These were written about three thousand years ago!"

Leo snorted, folding his arms. "He's just trying to look cool; there's nobody on earth that can answer Isabelle's question."

"Shut up, Leo. I'm not trying to act cool. I'm stating the truth; I was born with this gift," Moris said, continuing to inspect the drawings on the wall.

*Snort*

Leo still didn't believe him until Moris walked towards him. Moris pushed his hair away, revealing a small scar just above his eyebrow. Running his hand over them, he closed his eyes and took a moment before speaking, "If I'm right, these happened when you were four, right?"

Shocked, Leo almost stumbled, but Eloise held him back. "H-How did he know?! I never told anyone about my scar."

"As he said, Leo, he was born with that gift." Ethan patted him as they all turned back to Isabelle.

"Why did you ask Moris to look at the markings? Hey, Isabelle, are you alright?" Phil asked worriedly.

Isabelle absentmindedly shook her head and replied, "It would have been better if Zaid were here to help us, but I can do my best. If I'm right, then this is a diagram of a black hole."

"So..."

"Phil, black holes were only discovered recently. These writings are thousands of years old."

"Haha! Funny, you get us there," Ethan said with a funny expression.

"Ethan, this isn't funny; I am sure of it. I have seen Zaid draw it thousands of times." Isabelle defended her theory.

"Come on, Isa, everybody here knows that Zaid's a freak, and besides, what is a black hole? And why does it matter if it was drawn three thousand years ago?" Heidi asked curiously.

"Shit! We've been discovered!" Tilly, who was nearest to the cave entrance, alerted the rest. Her sudden shout alarmed them, but before they could run deeper into the cave, she stopped them. "Wait! The only person that walks like this... It's Zaid."

Just as she guessed, Zaid popped out at the cave entrance; the group was shocked to see him, and the same went for him.

"Why are you here?!" ×2

Zaid and Phil asked at the same time.

"We just came here for fun, Zaid. Now tell us the truth, did you follow us?" Ethan said with squinted eyes, unable to believe that Zaid, of all people, would follow them to a place for fun.

"I know what you're thinking; you're right. I am not here because of anybody. In fact, I was led here," he replied, looking around the cave like a lost boy searching for his mother.

Taking notice, the others couldn't help but ask, "What is it, Zaid? What led you here? What are you looking for?"

Snatching the flashlight from Ethan, Zaid answered them, "I don't know; I can't explain. A force led me here, more of a being."

Heidi slapped her forehead as she said. "Forget it! You followed us; we will just stick to that."

While searching around, Zaid came across the diagrams that Isabelle saw. "Wow, whoever drew this sure knows a lot. The black hole is perfect; the horizons are perfectly drawn. They even demonstrated the space warped in the circumference."

"There is something you need to know, Zaid."

"What?"

"These drawings are three thousand years old."

"What!!!"
