The sleek black car pulled up to the Adams estate, and Marley's heart pounded in her chest as the driver opened the door for her. Her ankle throbbed painfully, and she couldn't help but let out a small exclamation of pain as she attempted to step out of the vehicle. The look on Dane's face earlier had been terrifying – his cold eyes filled with fury as he said he did not want to marry a disabled person. Marley bit her lip, anxiety welling up within her as she thought about how difficult it would be to deal with this frigid man.
"Miss Marley, are you alright?" The Adams' butler, Thomas, approached her with concern etched on his face. He had heard about her injury and immediately called the doctor.
