'Ugh I knew this would happen'
Damian Stone as I said played a supporting role in the novel after the MC kicked his ass badly.
However, Damian was considered to be the greatest prospect of the White Lotus guild for the first years. But despite that, he wasn't taken in as the disciple of Elena.
The reason for this was because of Elena's gift which he didn't know about.
So I could understand why he was upset. He worked as hard as he could, trained every day but even after that he wasn't even consider taking in instead she took in some random guy. So I could understand what he was feeling, I mean I did create him after all.
"What is your name?"
"Arthur," I said simply, which caused his face to scrunch up.
-Hissss!
Alistair hissed on my head causing me to hold back my laughter.
"What is going on here?" And just in time, Amanda arrived
Hearing the voice Damian let go of my shoulder and turned toward Amanda.
"Mr. Stone, What do you think You are doing?" Amanda asked coldly
Gritting his teeth "Is it true? Was he accepted as Ms. Monfort's disciple?"
"Yes it is and I suggest you start showing him respect," Amanda said coldly while releasing some of her pressure.
Gritting his teeth Damian then declared "I request a duel!"
I could then hear some people around us whisper but I ignored them. But internally I smiled 'Thankfully he did as I hoped'
"Don't you think you're being quite rash?" Hearing the voice I heard everyone stop talking at once. The reason was simple, Elena Monfort herself was there.
Suddenly a burly man with brown hair and a scar running down his left eye came barreling through the sky "What is going on here?"
"Ah, Mr. Stone. Your son had just asked my disciple here for a duel," hearing this the man's remaining eye widened.
"I apologize for my son's actions," he said with a bow "I'll make sure that-"
"What do I get in exchange?"
Everyone then turned their attention to me "What?" Damian looked shocked
"I asked what do I get in exchange?"
Hearing that Damian smiled "What do you want?"
"Damian!" The man tried to stop Damian but Elena stopped him.
Stretching out my hand with my palm open, a shameless smile appeared on my face "Money."
There was a bit of a pause before Damian repeated "Money?"
I nodded
"How much?"
"How much can you give me?" I then looked at Elena "How much can he give me?"
"Does 50,000 LUM work for you?" Elena asked after pondering
"Works well enough," I nodded
"Great! The day after tomorrow we'll hold the duel," Clapping her hand's Elena then gestured me to follow her which I did.
Making it to her car, Alistair then sat on my lap.
"So when did you get the cat?"
"The day I moved it I left it some food," I said while petting him.
Alistair hated being pet but I had to convince him that it was for the greater good.
"What's his name?"
I was about to say Alistair but I relized that probably wasn't a good move so I took a quick glance and said "spot, cause there's a black spot on his right eye," I explained the reason why I named him that.
But then Elena asked something which I didn't expect "Is he neutered?"
Alistair froze in my lap while I tried to hold back my laughter "N-no,"
"I think you should consider doing that," Elena suggested
While I could tell she had good intentions I couldn't tell her that it was a guy. Well I could but I didn't really know what reaction she would have.
"I'll think about it," Alistair then glared at me but I simply looked away "ah right,"
Suddenly Elena handed me a book "As a congratulations, here is a gift from me to you"
Looking at the book my eyes widned.
"Grade 3 [Stormblade], its a technique that is basically a mimic of Medici's Thunderdance. Of course it's not as powerful as the hero's but I think it'll fit your fighting style,"
"I…I don't even know what to say, thank you," I said speechlessly
'I wonder what her reaction would be if I told her I had the real thing,'
Dropping me off at the house I entered with Alistair "so do you wanna talk about-"
"Say a word about it and I'll claw your eyes out," I immediately shut my mouth
I first made my way to the kitchen and grabbed a spoon and then made my way to the basement, I put the spoon in front of me and started to meditate. As the mana flowed around me I opened my hand where blue electricital bolts were moving in my palm. Electricity crackled around me as I looked at the spoon and stretched out my hand.
However, the spoon only tipped over.
I then sighed "A failure I guess,"
"You've been doing this for the past couple of days, what are you trying to achieve?" Alistair asked while looking at the tipped over spoon.
"Are you familiar with magnets and how they can attract and repel?" I asked
Alistair nodded "Yea I am,"
"Well I'm trying to recreate that through electromagnetism. I thought it'd help me give an edge if I'm on the losing side, also it could make a great barrier,"
"Barrier? How the hell can you create a barrier with electricity?"
"Through magnetic fields, with them I can exert a braking force to effectively slow an attack down or bring it to a halt, although it's still a theory," I clenched and unclenched my fists "although its easier said then done. The mana consumption is extremely high and not to mention I can barely even grasp the principle behind it," I said while scratching the back of my head.
"I see why master chose you," Alistair said after a pause "but do you think you could master it before your entrance exam,"
"I hope so," I said "but I should first focus on the duel,"
"Speaking of the duel I've been meaning to ask, why'd you ask for money?" Alistair tilted his head "from what I know Elena is filthy rich,"
"More money can never hurt," I said honestly "besides I have a business idea I want to invest in,"
"Whatever you say," Alistair then transformed into his human form "Now then let's train for your duel,"

I looked around at the stadium.
At firstI expected it to be some sort of boxing ring but it wasn't. While it was a square it was way bigger and that's not mentioning the glass dome that was covering the ceiling causing the sun light to pour in. In the stands there were many people but not as many as I thought as there were still a lot of seats open.
"Nervous?" Amanda asked while I stretched
"It'd be a lie if I said no," I replied before I made my way to the arena "Wish me luck,"
Making my way up the stairs I looked at Damian who had a sword and a shield ready.
Looking at me he opened his mouth "I ho-"
I raised my hand "I'm gonna stop you right there," I said "There is no way I'm listening to your cringe 'you are no match for me' speech?"
Damian's brow twitched I then looked at the referee "Can we get started,"
Nodding the referee started to countdown.
