Chapter 69 - Chapter 68: Fly!

Carrying the older man who had eventually ended up finding his wife amidst the rubble, though she was merely a corpse, having been run through by a piece of shrapnel; however, if those two were really sitting side by side, she had ended up protecting the man, I'm sure she must be happy knowing that wherever she is.

'Alright, that's the last survivor.' Thought Tut as he set the older man on the ground right along with the rest of the survivors he happened to save.

Counting them all up, there was a total of seventeen survivors. Was that a lot? No, definitely not when you take into account that this city was filled with thousands, if not possibly tens of thousands of people, and out of all that, only seventeen managed to survive; it was, in fact, rather depressing to think about.

Looking up at the sky, which was turning to dusk, I walked over to Sara, who was sitting in the distance on the back of a broken-down truck, watching the Serbian survivors.

"Is that everyone?" Asked Sara curiously as she glanced at Tut, who nodded with a sigh while sitting down beside her.

"In this large city, only 17 people managed to survive; depressing numbers." Remarked Tut with an ugly expression as he looked at the seventeen survivors, most of whom were now silent while they quietly came to terms with their situation.

"Yes, but it's better than finding no one." Said Sara lightly with a forced smile while Tut nodded in response.

"I suppose, but it doesn't really feel better." Muttered Tut with a sigh as he rested his head on his arms, which were propped up on his knees.

"So, what do you plan to do with them? I wish to help them as well, but we're not equipped to do so." Asked Sara, glancing at Tut as she picked up her camera before snapping a few photos of them.

"I'll take them to the refugee camp; it's the best place for them. Other than the little girl, Slavany, none of them can speak Romanian, and even then, she only knows a few basic words. Besides, knowing how a government works, if their identity of being Serbian gets exposed, they'll either be thrown in jail, which may not be so bad for them, or they'll be tossed back into Serbia." Replied Tut with a thoughtful expression while gazing at the seventeen survivors in the distance.

"That probably is the best plan; you know, when I first intended on coming here, I never imagined it would be so horrible, and although I don't think anyone should experience this, this was indeed a wonderful experience." Remarked Sara with a nod as she leaned slightly back, glancing between the survivors and the destroyed buildings.

"Wonderful?" Asked Tut skeptically with a raised eyebrow as he eyed Sara, who quickly shook her head.

"I-I didn't mean it like that; I mean, this was an experience that's definitely changed my outlook on the world. I don't think I needed to experience all of this, especially considering I'm only 18, but it's helped immensely." Stated Sara quickly as she tried rewording her mistake.

"I think you could've said that better, Sara, but I get what you're saying; as crazy as it sounds, I think I needed this as well. I guess it made me understand how fragile life truly is; all these weapons that wouldn't so much as put a scratch on me are capable of killing hundreds, if not thousands, of people in the blink of an eye." Said Pharaoh softly as he glanced at Sara before shaking his head and looking toward the sky.

"Anyways, I'll be right back; I'll go and get some food." Added Pharaoh as he hopped off the back of the truck while grabbing the empty backpack before suddenly vanishing, leaving behind a faint trail.

Leaping over the border between Romania and Serbia, I landed on the ground and dashed toward the nearest convenience store; finding one, I stopped right behind it in the alleyway before walking around the front and entering.

Grabbing a basket, I walked around and grabbed two of those massive, five-gallon jugs of water, which obviously didn't fit in the basket, so I filled that up with bread and lunch meat; no need to get creative; a sandwich is easy, and filling.

'Though, it will be dry; hope no one chokes and dies.' Mused Tut as he went to the only cashier, who quickly scanned his items.

Once everything was totaled together, I paid the sum, not bothering about the change, and left the store with two bags of food and two water jugs. Walking behind the convenience store, which was thankfully still empty, I sprinted back to Serbia, leaping over the fence on the border, and dashed right for Sara's voice.

"I'm back." Said Tut with a smile, standing before Sara as he scared her, nearly making her drop her camera.

"Haa, don't just suddenly appear like that, Tut; you nearly gave me a heart attack." Remarked Sara with a sigh as she rested her hand atop her rapidly beating heart while Tut chuckled.

"Hehe, anyways, help me pass these out." Replied Tut with a smirk as he turned and approached the group of seventeen while Sara followed right from behind.

With the appearance of both food and water, it seemed to spark new life in them as they started making their own sandwiches, needing no help from us whatsoever, and seeing their satisfied expressions was a little rewarding if I do say so myself, though I was required to run back to the store as I forgot cups.

"Here, this should hopefully keep your guys warm for the night." Said Tut as he finished his small bonfire before using his heat vision to set the wood on fire.

"Woah."

"Incredible."

"He must be a mutant."

"What Mutant has such a wide range of abilities?"

"I don't know, but there are so many mutants out there." Said the group softly as they looked at Tut, feeling much more energized now that they had a full stomach after starving for over a day.

"I'm not a mutant, guys." Remarked Tut lightly with a smile as he lightly blew on the growing fire, providing it with more oxygen.

"If you're not a Mutant, then what are you?" Asked Slavany curiously as she looked up at Tut while sitting in the older woman's lap.

"Hmm, I'll be keeping that a secret, but I'll give you a little hint: I come from up above." Replied Tut with a cheeky smile as he reached down and rubbed Slavany's head, causing her eyes to widen.

"Are you an angel? If so, where are your wings? Aren't you supposed to have a circle floating above your head?" Question Slavany eagerly, though all she got was a smirk from Tut, causing her to pout slightly.

"That's a secret; you may one day learn in the future." Said Tut with a smirk as he stood up and approached Sara in the distance.

"Have a good sleep, everyone." Added Tut, earning various nods and thank you's from the group as they all laid on pillows and blankets Tut found throughout the city.

"So, will you be going to sleep, Sara, or do you want to watch me do something cool?" Asked Tut with a sly smirk, his words causing Sara to sigh, though she nonetheless nodded.

"You know I can't say no to that, Tut." Replied Sara as she followed behind Tut, the two disappearing deeper into the destroyed city.

"So, what's this cool thing you were talking about?" Asked Sara with a raised eyebrow as she sat on a piece of destroyed building and watched Tut.

"You'll see, hopefully." Said Pharaoh with a grin as he glanced at Sara before squatting down.

Closing my eyes, I took a second to clear my mind and calm myself; once I was fully calm and my breathing was steady, only one word surfaced in my mind.

'Fly.' Thought Tut as he suddenly jumped into the air, cracking the ground beneath his feet.

Although I jumped hundreds of meters into the air, I could still feel gravity pulling me back down as I eventually crashed into the Earth.

"This might take some time, Sara." Remarked Tut with a wry smile as he dusted off his clothes and looked at Sara, who stared blankly.

'Alright, alright, the 100th time the charm, that's what they say; who is they? I don't know, but I'm sure someone says it.' Pondered Tut as he psyched himself up before squatting down, resting his fist on the ground.

For a few moments, I just stayed in this position while only thinking about flying, and although slightly, I felt the ground around me shake as the various debris started to tremble; however, I didn't bother with them and continued to focus on my task at hand.

A minute passed, and now the area around me was shaking intensely, though I didn't care as all of a sudden, I felt like I had found a new muscle, one that I'd never used beforehand. Flexing the muscle, I suddenly felt myself getting hit with a powerful gust of wind, causing me to open my eyes, only to be amazed by what I saw.

"Woah. So this, this is flying, huh." Remarked Tut in awe as he hovered high in the sky, over-looking the entire city.

"Hehehe, hahaha! I CAN FLY!" Yelled Tut in child-like excitement as he flexed his new muscle again, causing him to shoot through the sky, breaking the sound barrier almost instantly.

I would've put some lyrics of the song "I Believe I Can Fly", but R. Kelly isn't exactly the type of person you wish to associate with, so I'll just, unfortunately, leave this blank.
