Jun's face reddened, and her voice shook. "Y-you are letting h-him win, Masanori-san. R-right now."
"She's right," the redhead said. "No matter what, the last thing we should do is fight against each other."
"A vote, then, Kogane-san?" the oldest man in the group asked.
"I vote to give Jun over!" the loudmouth Masanori said. Then he lowered his head and added something quieter that Shin couldn't catch from that distance.
Kogane replied just as quietly, and the argument turned into agitated whispers.
Shin narrowed his eyes and concentrated his power on the knives lying on the grass closest to the group, but didn't move them yet.
"Enough!" Jun made two steps past her companions and toward Shin. She turned towards Masanori and said softly, "She was the kindest to me. And even if she wasn't, I wouldn't wish her fate on anyone. My life has no value compared to hers."
