'What… what is she talking about, boss?' Tetsu asked again, frowning even more.
Shin exhaled, reaching out for the knife. It was warm in his hand.
'I suppose I should warn you, Tetsu, since this will hurt you, too. This ceremony… I must gouge out my eye and replace it with an eye of a demon—like all these cultists already did.'
'Wh-what?!' Tetsu gasped. 'They want you to hurt yourself like this?! Boss, just give me a sign, and I will kill, I will gut all those assholes!'
She was really itching to do it—her anger was bubbling under Shin's skin. But not to the extent where she was beyond all reason.
'It's just an eye… With your help, it will heal in no time. The goodwill of those cultists is much more useful in the long run. They might even help us find and catch more transmigrators. They also have resources we lack.'
