Yozo grit his teeth and tried to spit at Shin, but managed only to make several bloody bubbles of saliva on his lips. "Fuck you," he said.
Shin turned to his demon. Angler was conscious, too, but his fishlike face gave Shin no hint of his emotions.
"What about you, Angler? Same goes for you."
The fish demon blinked slowly, and didn't say a word. Shin sighed.
They were both quite stubborn. He understood the demons—they usually were creatures used to pain. But humans? Most of them would cry and plead for mercy after a broken limb or two. Yozo's stoicism was a rare exception from the general rule.
Shin went to pull his knife out of the other prisoner. Blood gushed out of the open wound, but Shin ignored it as he returned to Yozo and crouched near him.
