This was troublesome. Shin had such a nice plan of capturing transmigrators without dirtying his own hands or risking his wellbeing. Now he had to do both.
Almost as soon as Three Pupils left his house, Shin ordered four dozen Origamis to spread the area the demon pointed at and investigate.
They returned fast—even faster than Shin expected. The next morning, they already were back, reporting their findings.
"Humans, demons… More than ten," Shin read the words the demon rats scribbled on paper with ink-stained paws. "I should've taught you how to count better. And this… 'together'? Humans and demons working together? Are they Contracted?"
The three rats that sat on the table in front of Shin nodded in unison.
Shin smiled.
'A dozen of Contracted people? Are they all transmigrators?' Tetsu wondered aloud. 'If so, then it's so lucky, my friend! If I regain a full Line for every transmigrator I eat, I will be back to 9 Verses in no time!'
