Now to the book.
BECAREFUL OF WHO YOU TRUST. THE DEVIL WAS ONCE AN ANGEL.
            -UNKNOWN.
"Can you believe it? The chief's wife is a witch!!!"
"I can't believe it as well!!"
"No wonder she has always looked so young!" hushed whispers of women echoed under the moon lights.
Burly men, clad in all sorts of attires gathered sticks to the center of the town where a group of people stood.Â
They all gossiped among themselves as the men gathered the sticks in a pile.
The gossipers where silenced by the arrival of a man who had an air of authority. He walked to the center where a small stage was set up and began to address the people.
"Good people of Tirion town. Under the law of our most beloved King -King Deimos, I present to you a woman who had wormed her way into our midst and into my home. She has taken the authority of the king for fun and henceforth should be dealt with according to the laws of Eldham kingdom." The man sighed as he gestured towards a group of men who retreated.
Afterwards, they returned with a woman whose figure could not be likened to that of a human. Her silver hair was drenched in her blood. The popular grey prisoner dress was torn as it exposed her porcelain skin which was now covered in ugly bruises and scars.
She was dragged across the stony and sandy ground which added to her grief. She sobbed bitterly as her body came in harsh contact with bristles and rocks before she was finally sent rolling on the second stage which was known as altar for burning witches and forbidden creatures.
"Behold the scarlet witch!" The man on the broad stage introduced. His eyes held no emotions as he watched the woman wallow in her despair. "This despicable is a bloody scarlet witch!" as soon as the man spoke, the crowd went up in an uproar. People from different neighborhoods began to troop in to watch the scene unfold.
"I knew it!"
"How can a woman of Tirion town have such rare features??! It all makes sense!!!"
"Yeah!! Her ghost like hair color and her green eyes!!!"
The all murmured among themselves as they condemned the woman who laid motionless on the floor. An evil smirk found its way to the man's face as he turned to face the woman. "Morana! How could you do this to us?" he asked, his cold emotionless face was replaced with sympathy and hurt.
Morana struggled to get to her feet as she spat a mouthful of scarlet blood to the ground. Seeing it, the crowd went up in a frenzy!!!
"Abomination!!!"
"Away with the witch!!!'
"Away with the witch!!!"
They all yelled as they began to throw stuffs at her. Rotten eggs were not left out. Morana looked at the purple-like blood on the floor and felt her heart race. "H- how? What…" words failed to escape her lips as she held her throat. Veins bulged on her forehead as she glared at the man whom she had spent her youth fighting for. That's right. The man who had called her out as a witch was her husband, Chief Oziel.
Under the harsh reign of King Deimos, Oziel had been chosen to be the town's chief. Which meant he had more access to the kingdom's wealth than its normal citizens.Â
"Oziel you bastard!!!" Morana mustered up her strength and yelled through gritted teeth. Her face turned pale as she staggered towards him which pushing through the men that guarded her. "You dare to poison me?" she yelled as anger engulfed her.
As soon as she said that, the crowd went silent as they began to murmur among themselves.
"Poison?"
"The chief poisoned his wife?"
The questions danced in the air which caused frown to appear on Oziel's face. "Y- you witch! What are you saying!?" he stuttered as he pointed at her.
"You poisoned me and killed my parents as soon as they signed off my inheritance to you! As if that was not enough, you were having an affair with our adopted daughter!! And now you label me as a witch!" she yelled through gritted teeth while the guards tried to stop her from speaking but they couldn't.
The crowd let out loud gasps as they digested the newfound information. Oziel's chest heaved up and down as anger wrecked his form. His fist tightened as she glared at the woman who had swiftly turned the tables. A menacing smirk crept up his lips as he calmly placed his hands behind him. "What evidence do you have? Huh? You claim that I killed your parents when they died at the hands of the sex partners at the red district! They were caught in adultery!!!"
Morana shook her head in argument, "you are lying! You Fox!! You set them up!!!"
Oziel scoffed, "I never adopted Astrid as my daughter. You adopted her behind my back after I had told you I was going to make her my consort!!"
The opinions of the crowd were in turmoil.Â
"What exactly is going on?" They all asked themselves.
"Speaking of daughter, someone should bring the witch's daughter out here!!" Oziel yelled.
Two guards who stood below him bowed as they both echoed "Yes" in unison. In no time, a girl with familiar features was brought out. As soon as the people set their gaze on the little girl, fear consumed them. The little girl had silver waist length hair and a pair of two-colored eyes. She was tied up in jade rope which burnt her skin. It was enough evidence to point that they were witches.
"There's no need to doubt! They are witches!!" A man yelled causing the crowds to yell in agreement.
Seeing her daughter tied up, her motherly nature kicked in. "You bastard! Let go of my daughter!" Morana yelled at Oziel who had signaled a man to light up the stake. He ignored Morana and spoke up. "Good people of Tirion, she committed adultery with her witch husband who had abandoned her to death and birthed his evil child. Today, they shall meet their end!!!"
Oziel gave a smug smile after his speech. He turned the four years old girl upside down and hovered over the scorching flame. Morana's eyes widened in shock as she watched her baby girl about to get roasted.
"Iliana!!!" Morana yelled. Purple flames engulfed her as she stretched her hand towards her daughter while the guards held her in place. Due to the strange occurrence, the people began to panic.
