"Are you ready?"
Upon hearing Prime's question, Sara nodded calmly. They were facing each other, and she agreed with Prime's idea without hesitation, seeing no reason to refuse. Moreover, Sara wanted to help, and she was starting to feel anxious about the dreams they shared, which seemed more serious than she had imagined.
"I know it's a bit strange to ask this after already agreeing, but... will this hurt in any way?"
When Sara's question reached him, Prime stared at her for a few seconds, blinking in surprise. The thought that crossed his mind was that Sara had agreed to his request without even questioning it. This made him smile ironically, as her trust in him was so great that it surprised him from time to time.
"I don't think so. I won't do anything very different from what we already do. I'll just go deeper into your mind this time. All you need to do is relax"
Sara simply nodded at Prime's words and then closed her eyes. Noticing this, Prime let out a brief sigh and began to prepare. Like her, he closed his eyes and initiated the connection with his main body inside Sara. The bond between them was established in a matter of moments.
When he opened his eyes again, Prime found himself in a place shrouded in darkness. He glanced around for a brief moment but could see nothing but absolute emptiness. Still, Prime understood that he had achieved what he had planned. Turning his gaze away from the darkness, he faced forward, where a figure stood with closed eyes. It was Sara.
"Sara, can you hear me? It's all right now; you can open your eyes"
Slowly, Sara opened her eyes upon hearing Prime's words echoing in her mind. She was surprised to find herself suddenly in a place completely enveloped in darkness. There was nothing around her, just absolute emptiness.
"Where are we? Why is there nothing here?"
"We're inside your mind, or rather, in the deepest part of your subconscious"
"Really? But why is there nothing here?"
"We need to stimulate your memories to recreate what you saw while I was dreaming. I'll do that now, so just close your eyes and leave the rest to me"
Sara didn't fully understand what was happening, but she moved forward anyway. Noticing that she had closed her eyes, Prime began to explore Sara's mind, navigating the depths of her subconscious. There, he found what he was looking for. With a snap of his fingers, the world around them, which was once only darkness, began to reconstruct itself.
The place that had once been absolute darkness transformed into a compact room with a typical kitchen of a small apartment. Prime looked around, feeling a strange nostalgia, although he couldn't explain why. His gaze finally settled on Sara, who still had her eyes closed.
"You can open your eyes now"
Sara slowly opened her eyes, following Prime's words. Like him, she began to observe the environment, but unlike him, she didn't show much surprise at the place they were in. Although she found the situation strange, Prime chose not to comment on it.
"It seems to have worked; my memories of the dream are coming back, although still in fragments"
As she spoke these words, Sara walked over to the kitchen and stopped in front of a small clock on the countertop. Prime frowned and slowly approached, positioning himself beside her.
"It must be time"
Prime was confused by Sara's words, but before he could ask any questions, the sound of a door opening echoed through the room. Turning toward the noise, Prime was surprised, his eyes trembling slightly as he faced his old body, which was very different from what he was now.
"I remember it's around this time that this person shows up. I don't know exactly who it is, but since this is your dream, it must be someone you know"
Prime couldn't blame Sara for not knowing who the person in front of them was; after all, he had never openly talked about it, and Sara didn't seem interested enough to investigate on her own.
"Speaking of which, he's really handsome; actually, he's my type. Oh! Not that you're not, of course. You both have several similarities, although his face is completely different since you're better looking. Somehow, you two seem similar to me"
Prime ignored Sara's desperate words. Either way, he understood where he was: it was probably early morning, the start of his dream. Upon reaching this place, he vaguely remembered that this scene always repeated itself for him.
"That's me, or at least it was before I reincarnated in my new body. However, this day... no matter how hard I try, I can't remember it. According to what I know, I died the day before while coming home by bus"
Sara looked visibly surprised upon hearing Prime's words and felt embarrassed recalling everything she had said moments before. However, she realized it wasn't the time for that; Prime seemed so absorbed in the scene that she decided not to worry. Thus, she chose to set those thoughts aside and began observing the surroundings.
"I remember this place. The feeling of watching but being unable to interfere is the same... But I didn't expect you to be like this"
Sara and Prime watched Ryan as he had breakfast before leaving the house. They followed him, enjoying the relatively sunny day, with the sun shining brightly in the sky. In summary, nothing notable was happening to draw attention, at least for now.
Sara and Prime followed Ryan to the college where he studied in his former life, greeted by his two only friends. Although Prime expected several questions from Sara, she remained quieter than he had imagined.
"This is your college?"
"Yeah... Let's go in"
As he spoke these words, Prime and Sara entered the place, following Ryan, who seemed oblivious to any abnormality. As previously mentioned, no matter how Prime looked at it, everything seemed like just another normal day.
