Chapter 50 - Chapter 50 - Night of the ball [1]

Orbiting above Earth, the majestic Asteroid M rose, a vast complex built with various facilities, including an observation deck, hangars, and medical facilities. Additionally, it was equipped with advanced technology that kept it hidden from conventional detections, maintaining a stationary orbit around the planet.

In a room filled with screens, a man wearing a helmet focused his attention on one of them. On the screen, the latest events in which Sara had been involved were displayed, including her transformations. Although his initial interest was focused on the discovery that she was a mutant, his main objective was to recruit as many mutants as possible for his cause.

As he observed the girl, his perception shifted. Her power was surprisingly versatile, offering numerous possibilities for use. He envisioned several ways to employ this power to achieve his ultimate goal: to free mutants and place them in the position he believed was their rightful one, as leaders of humanity, an evolved version of the human species.

"So, are we finally going to do this? You've been watching her for weeks" said another person who was in the corner of the room, his blond hair styled contrasting with his vain smile.

"Finally some action! I'm tired of spending the whole day here just scratching my butt" grumbled another man, looking rough and aggressive.

"Tsk, Tsk, Tsk, you really need to polish your words before you speak them, my dear. That's why you're not very popular with the girls" said the blond man, displaying a vain smile as he shook his head from side to side.

"What's that? Want me to wipe the floor with your face instead of hers, Pyro?" retorted the rough-looking man, letting out a growl.

"As I mentioned before, Victor, it would be wise to think before you speak. There's no need to act like a grumpy animal" Pyro retorted, flames dancing over his arm.

At that moment, before any of them could act, the atmosphere in the room grew tense, and both quieted down, awaiting the leader's words. The imposing presence revealed itself as Magneto, the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants.

"Calm down, both of you. This argument will get us nowhere" resonated the authoritative voice throughout the room.

At the sound of Magneto's voice, the room fell into complete silence. He rose from his chair and moved toward the exit door, closely followed by Pyro and Victor, better known as Sabretooth.

"You two, come with me. It's time to recruit her for our cause" Magneto declared with conviction, as Pyro and Sabretooth promptly followed him towards the door.

Upon hearing Magneto's words, Pyro pondered for a moment, releasing a slight sigh before casting a cautious glance at the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants and asking.

"And what if she refuses?"

After these words, a tense silence settled for a few seconds before Magneto resumed speaking, his tone now colder and more austere than before.

"Then we will force her to accept"

Currently, Sara found herself doing something she never imagined she'd do, something even more surprising than sharing a body with an alien. Prime, in her mind, couldn't help but chuckle as he watched Sara's expression every time Jean and Kitty arrived with a new dress.

Although Sara had expressed her intention to go with pants, sneakers, and a coat, the girls vehemently rejected that idea, forcing Sara into the situation she finds herself in now.

(Seriously, why the hell do I need a dress if I don't even plan to dance?) Sara mentally exclaimed, sincerely seeking an answer to her question.

(You don't need a reason to look pretty, after all, it's something you've never done before. Why not enjoy and have fun?) said Prime, his voice sounding seriously persuasive.

This made Sara seriously ponder Prime's words; as he said, this would be a unique opportunity for her, although she didn't fully understand why she should wear a dress, especially considering she didn't even plan to dance. However, Sara was aware that she couldn't escape the clutches of Jean and Kitty, so she decided to change her plan.

"Are you sure you want this one? I was thinking something more... flirtatious" Kitty asked, casting a doubtful glance.

Hours later, Sara finally managed to choose an outfit that fell under the category of "dress" - although, in a way, it didn't differ much from regular attire, except for the fact that it had a skirt instead of pants.

"I just want something comfortable" Sara replied convincingly. "I don't plan to dance, so this is good enough for standing in a corner, drinking, and eating" Her expression clearly reflected her satisfaction.

"Well, if that's what you want, then I guess we're ready with our dresses now" exclaimed Jean with a smile on her face.

After choosing the dresses, the three girls left the store and decided to take a walk to a nearby café. There, they sat down and continued to chat animatedly, losing track of time as they enjoyed each other's company.

(By the way, who are those two going to the prom with?) Prime asked in Sara's mind.

While Prime expressed his interest in the subject, Sara, on the other hand, wasn't as engaged in it, to be honest. However, upon hearing Prime, only a few names came to her mind. This was because Sara knew that Jean and Kitty didn't seem to be very close to many guys, both at Xavier's Academy and at school.

"Do you already have someone in mind to be your dates?" Sara asked casually.

Jean and Kitty exchanged glances for a few seconds before turning their attention back to Sara again. With a smile on her face, Kitty was the first to speak.

"What happened? I thought you weren't interested in that" Kitty said, with a mix of curiosity and surprise in her voice.

Listening to Kitty's question, Sara shrugged, showing her indifference to the matter. She wasn't particularly interested, just curious.

"I don't have a date, but you seem pretty excited, so I thought you already had someone in mind from the start"

Responding to Sara's words, Jean smiled sweetly and friendly before speaking.

"Scott asked me, and I agreed to go with him" Jean said.

Upon hearing this, Kitty, beside her, with a mischievous grin on her face, commented.

"Well, well, when are you two going to admit you're a couple? It's pretty obvious, you know?"

Sara, who was listening to the conversation from the side, just gave a small smile.

"But what about you, Kitty? Anyone in mind?" Sara asked.

"Me? I'm going with Kurt. He asked me anyway, so I don't see why not accept" Kitty replied.

"Before talking about me, I think you should look around, Kurt is clearly interested in you, Kitty" said Jean with a mischievous smile on her face.

After that, the conversation continued for some time. This moment, although rare in Sara's life, wasn't something she considered bad. Spending time like this with friends, enjoying a normal life, was something Sara had always wanted. And thanks to Prime, she was getting to have that.

After returning home, nothing much interesting happened, just preparations. Before Sara knew it, it was time for the prom. At the mansion, according to what Sara had heard from Jean and Kitty, Xavier had rented a limousine that would take them to the school.

Needless to say, Sara found it impressive to be in a limousine. This would be her first time in such a luxurious car. Although Xavier wasn't her father, Sara thought having a family would be something like this.

As they entered the limousine, the car started to move smoothly. Jean, Kitty, Scott, and Kurt were already aboard, chatting animatedly about the prom. Meanwhile, Sara was completely absorbed in sticking her head out of the limousine, waving to passersby. Prime, in her mind, was also delighted with the experience. After all, both were from humble origins, never had the opportunity to ride in a limousine before.

As the limousine approached the school, the city lights gave a magical atmosphere to the surroundings. Sara watched in wonder at the various lights radiating from the glass roof of the school's gymnasium. In front of the building, a profusion of decorations indicated that something special was happening there.

When the limousine stopped, the group began to make their way towards the school. Sara noticed that she still hadn't spotted any of her friends, suggesting they hadn't arrived yet. Upon arriving at the prom venue, her first impression was that it resembled the typical teenage parties she used to see on television.
