Since it entered into symbiosis with the rat, Prime began wandering the streets in an attempt to identify where it was. In its quest, it prioritized the alleys, knowing it would be trampled if anyone saw it. Eventually, Prime realized it had arrived in New York City, in the United States.
There were two other pieces of bad news, though. The first was that Prime lived in Canada, and it couldn't see a way to get there being just a rat. The second, and perhaps more crucial, was, what the hell should it do now that it was no longer human? That was the main question plaguing Prime's mind.
(I guess for now, all I can do is find someone more compatible with me)
For Prime, who had symbiotically merged with a human, it was undeniable that it felt much inferior compared to when it was with Isaac. In general, irrational animals like rabbits, rats, and others, while easy to manipulate, were clearly inferior to humans.
(But is there really someone willing to harbor a slime monster inside them?)
While pondering this, Prime suddenly heard a noise from below. It was lying on a fire escape staircase near an alley. Glancing down, Prime spotted three boys, probably between seventeen and eighteen years old.
In front of them, a girl was lying on the trash, her face covered in bruises and blood dripping from her mouth. Prime didn't particularly feel sorry for the girl but found the situation interesting enough to keep watching.
In the end, even if it wanted to help, what the hell could it do? It was just a rat, and it was more likely to end up needing help if it decided to interfere. While thinking about it, Prime noticed that the three boys had grabbed a wad of money in their hands. From the thickness, it was clear that it was a good amount, although not that much.
Prime watched closely as the three boys seemed to say something to the girl with smug looks. Then, Prime was surprised to see the girl flip them off, with a victorious smile on her face. Except for the part where she got beaten up even more for doing that, Prime found the girl quite interesting.
If he weren't an alien slime, he would probably fall in love with the girl because she was exactly his type.
(Well, she did manage to get my attention)
Saying that, Prime slowly descended the steps of the staircase until reaching the ground. Approaching the girl, who was dusting off her coat, he could better observe her appearance. The girl was surprisingly beautiful, with white hair and blue eyes, an angelic face that clearly hid her fearless nature.
"Shit, aside from getting beaten up by those idiots, they even took my money"
As he approached, Prime heard the girl speak. Even after getting beaten up, Prime noticed that she wasn't shaken at all. It seemed like this was a common situation for her. Once he reached a reasonable distance, Prime stopped and started staring at the girl. She also seemed to notice Prime when their eyes met.
Both stared at each other for a few seconds, unsure how to react. Prime didn't know what to say, while the girl just stared at the rat because it was staring at her. Tense silence hung between them until the girl finally broke the silence.
"Uhh... Hello?"
The girl asked in a strange way as she watched the mouse. She found it quite odd that she had tried talking to a mouse, and realizing this, she let out a small laugh, mocking herself.
"Seriously, why the heck am I talking to a mouse? Can't my day get any worse, can it?"
Prime continued to watch the girl as she finished cleaning up and looked around. From Prime's perspective, the girl seemed lost, not knowing what to do. With that, Prime slowly approached the girl. Upon noticing the mouse's approach, the girl looked intently at him. To Prime's surprise, she crouched down and extended her hand.
"Are you alone too, little one?"
The girl spoke while looking at Prime with a small smile on her face. Although it was purely on a whim, Prime, for some reason, felt that maybe it was fate that they had met. With that, Prime slowly approached the girl and extended his front paw.
The girl had a smile on her face as she watched the mouse raise his paw, but before the mouse's paw touched her hand, she noticed something like slime on the mouse's paw. Suddenly, the slime jumped from the mouse, sticking to her hand.
This made the girl jump back in surprise. But when she looked again at her hand, there was nothing there. She slowly looked back at the mouse, who also stared at her as if wondering what was happening. The girl just watched the mouse go away somewhere, trying to understand what had just happened.
"Was that... was that an illusion?"
Sara was genuinely confused by what had just occurred. First, she had a conversation with a mouse, and then some strange slime jumped and seemed to enter her body. If she shared this story with someone, they would probably send her to a hospital. However, unexpectedly, a voice resonated in her mind, even though no one was present at that moment.
(I know this must have been very strange for you, but I can assure you it wasn't an illusion)
Upon hearing the inner voice, Sara looked cautiously around, her blue eyes exploring the corners of the alley for the source of the voice. However, it became evident that there was no one but her in that place. Meanwhile, Prime had already settled inside Sara, achieving symbiosis. However, instinctively, Prime sensed something peculiar in the girl.
There was something latent within her that seemed to call him, a spark that ignited for a brief moment when Prime merged with her. However, Prime chose to temporarily ignore this because there were other issues that required his immediate attention. Besides, by merging with Sara, he gained a complete view of her, revealing that they both shared surprising similarities.
