Apparently "something appropriate" meant three women sweeping into her bedroom in a flurry of chatter, arms laden with clothes, makeup, and accessories.
She recognized them as Uriel's maids—young vampire women she'd seen floating around the mansion, always glancing at her curiously but never engaging directly. Now, though, they seemed delighted to have an excuse to be near her, their eyes sparkling as they set their things down on her bed with eager, barely-contained excitement.
"Well, don't just stand there!" one of them said with a laugh, gesturing for Cass to sit in the chair they'd set up by vanity. She had caramel skin and bright green eyes that glimmered with mischief, her short, choppy bob swinging as she spoke. "You're the boss's date tonight. Let's get you looking like it."
