Xiaolu wandered aimlessly on the road for a while, unconsciously arriving at the doorstep of Junwei's villa. However, she hesitated to ring the doorbell, knowing that Junwei's parents opposed their relationship, as warned by her friend Tao. She decided to wait under a tree nearby until Junwei came out. The symptoms of pregnancy made her feel drowsy, and concealed behind the tree trunk, she found herself staring absentmindedly at the closed gates. Unintentionally, her eyes closed.
Two hours later, Xiaolu woke up from a satisfying nap. However, as she opened her eyes, she realized it was already dark. Checking the time, she panicked; it was past 9 PM, and she wondered if she had missed Junwei during her slumber. Only a couple of lights were on in the villa, suggesting that perhaps only the housemaid was home. Hope flickered in Xiaolu's heart, and as she stood up, a silver-gray car sped towards the villa and parked in front.
Panicking, Xiaolu hid behind the tree, nervously watching the approaching car. The door opened, and Junwei stepped out. Xiaolu's heart leaped with joy, thinking of approaching him, but she found herself rooted to the spot as Junwei, a gentleman, opened the passenger door, and a tall, alluring woman stepped out. Junwei held her waist, and they walked towards the villa, laughing and chatting.
What should I do? Xiaolu's heart pounded. To clarify matters, she summoned the courage to confront them. "Stop!" A sudden shout from behind the tree startled the couple. They turned, and Xiaolu, meeting their gaze, walked decisively toward them.
"Why are you here?" Junwei seemed surprised by Xiaolu's appearance.
"Yes, it's me. I've been waiting for you," Xiaolu said, trying to hold back her tears.
The woman next to Junwei pouted her red lips, provocatively glancing at Xiaolu before shifting her gaze to Junwei. "Who is she, dear?"
"Dear." Hearing this, Xiaolu felt a chill. She scrutinized the woman—skinny, with wavy hair, a pointed jaw, and slender eyes, not conventionally pretty but exuding a captivating charm.
After stammering for a while, Junwei suddenly remembered something. "Right, she's a cashier at my family's convenience store."
Although the woman wasn't entirely convinced, after observing Xiaolu, she smugly said, "No wonder, with such looks, she fits the cashier role."
"You..." Xiaolu glared at the two. Flustered, Junwei spoke to the woman, "Linda, you go inside first. I need to talk to her about the store."
Dismissing Xiaolu with disdain, Linda planted a kiss on Junwei's face and sashayed into the villa. "Don't cry, don't cry," Xiaolu kept reminding herself not to cry, but tears betrayed her.
"Sorry, Xiaolu, my family doesn't approve of us being together."
"Is it because your family disapproves, or have you fallen for this woman?"
"Xiaolu, listen, Linda is my mom's business partner's daughter. They insist on us being together, and I can't do anything about it. Honestly, I like you."
Looking at Junwei's evasive eyes, Xiaolu felt a surge of sadness. This man had betrayed her emotionally and taken away her first time irresponsibly. Even if she could overlook that, what about the baby in her?
"Junwei, I came to tell you something. I..." Xiaolu hesitated, unsure whether to reveal her pregnancy. This man wouldn't take responsibility.
"Hey, who's this girl, making a scene at our doorstep so late at night without any manners?" A middle-aged woman casually strolled over to Xiaolu, disdainfully assessing her rustic appearance.
"Mom, you're back?" Junwei, greeted his mother.
"Yeah, how could I miss such a splendid show like this?"
"Mom, it's not what you think."
"None of your business. Go inside quickly; don't make Linda angry."
Junwei glanced at Xiaolu apologetically and entered the villa. "You're Fang Xiaolu, right? Let me tell you, with your appearance, don't even think about seducing my Junwei. If you need money, I can give you a couple of hundred bucks. But if you dare come here causing trouble again, I'll call the police."
Glaring at the woman, Xiaolu coldly remarked, "Keep your money. Use it on your son's wedding!" Without looking back, she walked away, leaving behind a determined silhouette and a tear-streaked face unseen by others.
