It was almost midnight in Nanjing, however, a couple in front of a bar was seen fighting. A group of people around the neighborhood surrounded them to watch their show instead of preventing the scene from happening.
A few weeks before this, Deng Caiyi, a young miss of age 23 whose personality was pretty as well as herself was working in a bar as a bartender. She is really flawless at this stuff despite being a female. She would put on a show for everyone who came to order a glass of wine. Although she has a great honor at the workplace, she wasn't really fond of it. Not only because this was something her parents wouldn't be proud of, but also because she had a dream to be an actress. She'd passed her education beyond her level, but hadn't gotten any opportunity to use it.
On one of the nights of her work, she met her ideal celebrity, Lady Bai Zhihua. She was with a wealthy-looking man, later learned that the name was, Wu Zhengxiang. They both came to Caiyi to request a fine wine as the public followed them. Both the lady and the gentleman seemed elated that they both could fly to the moon. They were smiling, laughing, and babbling about everything. Caiyi admired them so much, she would die for such relationship and popularity. Even after, the couple left, Caiyi couldn't stop imagining how life would be if she were Lady Bai.
After her shift, she was walking back to her small apartment around the corner when the cry of a celebrity from an alley caught her attention. It was Zhihua. She had black eyes which were caused by her mascara, and looked messy and miserable. Caiyi approached her wondering if her encouragement on a matter she'd spilled would help.
"Miss? Is there anything wrong?"
Zhihua kept crying and then said,
"I would say I'm fine if I really was, however, the man I love doesn't love me back. He told me he was doing it just for his face in the society."
Caiyi couldn't stand it and went in for a hug not caring about whether she was a famous person or not.
Caiyi whispered into the ears of the lady while comforting her,
"If I were you, I'd be living a dream."
Zhihua lifted her eyes and met the ones of Caiyi's. She replied,
"If you knew my life, you wouldn't. What about yours?"
They both came out of the alley and sat on a nearby bench. Caiyi talked about how her life is really boring, she barely makes a lot, how she has to rely on a job her parents don't support, and so on. They went from fan-and-admiration status to friends. They argued about how their life was worse. But, they did agree on one thing.
I wish I had your life. It'd be perfect rather than staying myself.
They said bye to each other and that they'd meet again very soon as it was really late at night.
When Caiyi got back to her fairly comfortable chamber, she took a night shower and went to bed. Although she was sleepy, she just couldn't stop thinking about what she and Lady Bai talked about earlier that night.
How bad could it possibly be? Imagine living the life of a celebrity with a guy who makes six figures. Who cares if the man didn't like you? You'll still be on the front cover of a magazine.
On the other hand, Zhihua was on her elegant mattress thinking,
I would not care if I lived in a small apartment. I'll still be living under my own rules. I need not care about how people judge me, use me, or not love me because, I'm myself. Even if I'd found a partner, that partner would love me for me and not for some popularity.
Only after staying awake to talk to themselves about their ideal lives, they both fell into a great sleep.
