Emma Hart could clearly feel Damien Sterling's grip on her shoulder tighten significantly.
Whenever Mr. Sterling Senior was mentioned, Damien's mood visibly soured, especially after the recent amnesia incident.
"What does it matter if he knows or not? This whole situation has left me cold. But you, you're just so foolish. Why did you go along with them and deceive me?" Damien Sterling reproached, though his eyes were filled with concern.
Of course, he knew that Emma Hart couldn't stand up to the pressure from the others.
Emma, however, took his words to heart, lowering her head in guilt. She felt sorry for Damien's ordeal—during such a critical time, she hadn't been able to help him and had only held him back.
"I'm sorry. If it weren't for my uselessness, you wouldn't have..." Emma Hart mumbled softly.
Her apologies were abruptly cut off as Damien Sterling sealed her lips with a deep kiss.
