During dinner, Emma's movements slowed, catching Damien's attention. He knew this meant she probably had something to say.
Sure enough, Emma spoke up after a while, her voice faint, "I've been feeling really cooped up at home lately. Could I go out again, like when we went to the flower market? They can follow me, so you don't have to worry..."
"Okay," Damien agreed without a second thought.
Emma was stunned, unable to believe how easily he consented. She had braced herself for a debate if he refused.
Damien's acquiescence lifted Emma's spirits the next morning.
After breakfast, she excitedly called Mrs. Harris to leave the house.
"Why are you so excited, Miss Emma?"
"It's just that I've been stuck inside for so long, I feel like a little rabbit about to sprint across fields of hope," Emma said with a laugh, knowing well the real reason behind her joy.
