Chereads / Born as Gojo Satoru Cousin / Chapter 156 - Re: Goodwill Event

Chapter 156 - Re: Goodwill Event

February 13, 2018.

8:56 AM.

Opening the classroom door, Eiji realized he was the last person to arrive.

Panda: "Good morning, Eiji."

Salmon: "Salmon."

Maki: "You're late."

Yuta: "Maki-san, the school bell hasn't rung yet, technically Eiji-kun isn't late."

"Morning, everyone." Said Eiji without changing his expression, walking to his seat, and sitting down.

"Hey, Eiji, have you studied for today's exam?" Panda asked curiously.

"Um."

"What about you, Yuta?"

Seeing Eiji's weak response, Panda shifted his attention to Yuta.

"I'm not very confident... Before, I stopped going to school because I was worried Rika would hurt someone, so I haven't studied in a long time."

Yuta looked worried and lacked confidence.

He didn't expect Jujutsu High School to have an education curriculum similar to regular schools.

Due to his busy schedule studying Jujutsu or training, he didn't have free time to study.

"Mustard leaf."

As if understanding Toge's words, Maki crossed her legs and said casually, "Toge is right, this exam is just a formality to advance to the second year of high school. Even if you fail the exam, there won't be a retake, and you'll still pass. Besides, there are only a few students, it's impossible for the school not to pass you just because of a trivial exam."

"Is that so? Thank goodness, I was very worried about this exam."

Hearing her statement, Yuta patted his chest and breathed a sigh of relief.

*DING DONG*

As they were engrossed in conversation, the bell rang in each school building.

Shortly after, the sound of footsteps approached, then the door opened loudly, and Gojo Satoru entered in a boisterous manner.

"Good morning, everyone~"

"..."

There was only silence; they were used to his strange behavior.

"Before the exam starts, Sensei will ask a 'critical question', anyone can answer it, and there will be a mysterious prize~"

Standing on the podium, Satoru stared at his students with a thin smile.

"My instincts tell me this is silly."

"Salmon."

"Looks interesting, count me in."

Compared to Maki's indifferent attitude, Panda and Toge were very interested.

Yuta and Eiji exchanged glances for a moment before focusing on Gojo-sensei at the podium.

"The question is very easy, what day is it tomorrow?"

"Stupid, it's obviously Wednesday tomorrow."

Maki couldn't help but mock because Gojo-sensei chose such a silly question.

"Pufttt, your answer is correct, but not entirely complete. Maki is disqualified and can't answer anymore."

"Hah?!"

Veins bulged on her forehead, Maki felt annoyed being laughed at by Gojo-sensei.

"Isn't there anyone who knows the answer?"

Seeing Panda, Toge, and Yuta pondering the answer seriously, Satoru looked at his cousin who was also staring at him.

"Valentine's Day. Tomorrow is February 14th, which is celebrated as Valentine's Day."

"Bingo! As expected from Eiji. You're very smart, this is your prize."

Reaching into his pocket, Satoru threw something and Eiji raised his hand to catch what was thrown.

"..."

From the beginning, Eiji didn't have high expectations, so he wasn't disappointed to only receive a can of coffee as a prize for such a silly question.

"It's just a can of coffee after all, Gojo-sensei, aren't you being too stingy?"

Women are very vengeful about even the smallest complaints, and Maki was no exception.

"No no no. You're mistaken, Maki, it's actually you who should give something."

Wagging his index finger, Satoru smiled meaningfully.

"What do you mean?" Maki furrowed her brows, not understanding the other party's words.

"Yuta, what does Valentine's Day mean?"

"Eh...?"

Not expecting this question from Gojo-sensei, Yuta was momentarily stunned, then he gave his answer like an exemplary student.

"Women will give chocolates to men. There are two types of chocolates, first is Honmei chocolate given to someone they like romantically, and second is Giri chocolate given to male friends, colleagues, or bosses out of obligation."

"Don't tell me..."

After hearing that, Maki began to understand the meaning behind Gojo-sensei's smile.

Next, he confirmed her guess.

"Maki, you're the only female student. Wouldn't you feel sorry if male students didn't receive a single chocolate during their high school years? It's a bleak and colorless youth! At least give them Giri chocolate, okay?"

"No way! Feminine stuff like that doesn't suit me!"

Slamming the table, Maki immediately refused.

"Gojo-sensei, since Maki-san doesn't want to, there's no need to force her."

Raising his right hand, Yuta supported Maki.

"That's right, I prefer bamboo over chocolate." Panda honestly stated.

"Tuna Tuna." Toge conveyed his incomprehensible opinion.

"Gojo-sensei, let's start the exam."

Eiji wasn't interested in discussing this topic.

"Sensei is only defending the well-being of male students, why isn't anyone supporting me?"

Wiping away nonexistent tears, Satoru pretended to be sad.

"Well, since you all refuse, forget it. It's your loss for not receiving chocolate from women on Valentine's Day."

Changing his expression in an instant, Satoru returned to being cheerful.

After that, he handed out exam papers to the students. Sitting in his chair as the supervisor, he casually said, "The exam begins."

❀❀❀

"The exam is over, put down your pens, and collect the exam papers." Announced Satoru.

Panda submitted their exam papers.

"Oh, I almost forgot. Yuta, tomorrow you'll come with me to Kyoto."

Standing up, Satoru, who was about to leave, halted his steps as he remembered something.

"Just me?"

Yuta pointed to himself in surprise.

"Yes, you'll represent Jujutsu High School Tokyo in the Goodwill Event." Satoru said lightly.

"Goodwill Event?"

This was the first time Yuta had heard the term.

"Wait a minute, Gojo-sensei. Isn't the Goodwill Event an annual event? It's not time for it yet, right?" Maki asked the question that others wanted to say.

"As you recall, the previous Goodwill Event was chaotic because of Eiji. After Jujutsu High School Kyoto heard about Yuta, them wants to hold a re-run of the Goodwill Event. Of course, Eiji won't be participating."

"So that's it... Hm? Why is it only Yuta participating? Is Jujutsu High School Kyoto underestimating us?!"

After hearing Gojo-sensei's explanation, Maki felt odd and realized something strange.

"Anyway, Yuta is a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer. He alone is sufficient; you don't need to participate in the Goodwill Event this time."

"Tsk."

Maki could only click her tongue in annoyance. She couldn't argue. Besides, she was just a Grade 4 Jujutsu Sorcerer.

"Don't pout, Maki. You can participate in the Goodwill Event next year, I guarantee it."

"Alright."

With Gojo-sensei's promise, Maki's mood slightly improved.

After that, Satoru left the classroom.

"Let's practice, Yuta. I'll train you."

"Oh, okay!"

Grabbing his school bag, Yuta followed Maki.

"Where are you going, Eiji?" Panda asked.

"The usual place." Eiji replied without looking back.

"Oh, your favorite candy store! Can Toge and I come along?"

"Sure."

"Great! Let's go, Toge."

"Salmon."

Eiji, Panda, and Toge didn't disturb Yuta and Maki's "date" (training).

The three of them headed to the Onodera Family's candy store.
