Chapter 8 - Battle (1)

Yawning I exited the basement and then started to unclench and clench my fist.

"Three circles huh?" despite the leap in strength I felt I frowned.

I remembered that guy who appeared in my house so effortlessly. I could tell he didn't have magic circles and despite that, there was an overwhelming gap between us.

Normally there are mages who can't see a person's circle, the reason for this is because they are weaker most of the time. However, I was able to figure out a way around that using magic vision.

That's what I called it. It was something I had developed when I was transported to Arcadia. It allowed me to see the amount of circles another person had even if they were stronger than me.

But I never used it unless I had to as it strained my vision.

After ordering some food I wondered some ways to change the magic system in Arcadia. While I tinkered with the magic system a little to give me an edge that's all I did. I didn't really explore anything or create new ideas. All I did was gather info before I tweaked it a bit like my magic circles.

And Ether?

I just made runes with it nothing else. While I tried to manipulate it would just result in my body being sore or getting injured.

But something then came "What about an elemental core?"

While I didn't have enough elemental energy in Arcadia which was largely due to the outer gods here there was a lot of elemental energy.

"Hm, could I make an ether core?"

Waving my hand I tried to control the ether around me. But my eyes widened "What the-"

As I moved the ether the creation elemental energy moved as if scared of it.

Playing around for a bit I was able to control the elemental energy to some extent however, this also showed me an issue I had never realized even in Arcadia.

'Are my mana veins blocked?'

Mana veins, as the name suggests allow the user to cast spells more efficiently. Yet without that, I was able to use mana regularly by making that circle. But I was also able to make my own mana veins.

Remembering something in my body I closed my eyes and saw many black veins in my body. At first, I thought they were just normal parts of the human body. I also thought that everyone had to create their own mana veins.

However, before I killed the demon star a mage told me that people have their own mana veins in their body when they are born. But considering I was an out worlder I thought I was different.

As I recalled this I thought about those black veins. Using those as bases I used the mana in my body to probe them. However, when I touched it my eyes shot open.

"The fuck,"

When the mana got near the black veins it started to change colour.

'I wonder…'

I then decided to pour my mana through those black veins. When I did they cleared up causing me to be confused for a second before my body was put through excruciating pain. Rolling on the floor I tried to dull the pain a little however, it didn't work. Before I knew it I had blacked out.

When I came to again I was breathing heavily. Immediately I checked the state of my body and was surprised. The once black veins were now a variety of different colours and were going all through my body.

This resembled the man's as if my body was a magic circle.

Raising my hand a simple fire appeared on my finger. Soon it became a dark blue flame before it became a dark purple flame. Then the flame quickly changed into a light purple flame, then a pale blue flame before it was completely white.

I was impressed by the casting time which was cut in half and it didn't even take up a lot of mana in fact it seemed as if my mana consumption had lowered.

"Not bad,"

I then tried to use ether and when I did I didn't feel the side effects that I usually felt. But then I tried to move the creation energy. To my absolute glee, I was able to move it without issue.

"ah it's wor-"

*Splurt*

Suddenly my entire arm exploded. Blood and muscle tissue covered where I was standing along with some bones.

"...ok so using Creation Elemental energy is off the table,"

Quickly regenerating my arm I cleaned the mess and tried to figure out what was wrong and immediately realized what the problem was.

It was my physique.

"Ugh, I knew this would've bit me in the ass sooner or later, but not here,"

Sighing I heard the doorbell ring so I opened it to see the delivery guy with my food. Grabbing and paying for it I sat on the couch using Ether again I tried to manipulate Creation energy again however, I couldn't really do much with it.

"tsk damn," taking the bite of the cheese stick I thought about what to do.

"Maybe I should call him?" I muttered

But I let out a sigh remembering what he did last time I summoned him "Nah he'd probably destroy the city,"

But I thought about what to do about the chimera "Can I beat it?"

Thinking about it I decided to explore this system a bit more until I think I am strong enough. Checking with Rock I found that he was still following it.

***

The Next day I went to work and was followed by my trainer Devon.

I was a bit tired which was mainly due to me trying to hide my mana which I was able to figure out. I continued to work but then Devon had to go to the back to get something.

The girl who greeted me the last time approached me.

'Her name was Clara right?'

"So how's the job?"

"Pretty good," I said but she looked at me strangely "You know this new look isn't bad,"

By "new look" she was referring to my new hairstyle and fake glasses. While it was a pain to dress up I thought it would help me keep up with this secret identity thing.

"Hey, how old are you,"

"16," I replied back after thinking. Honestly, I didn't know exactly how old I actually was. I didn't exactly know how long I spent in Arcadia but it was at least more than a few months. And that's excluding the spirit world adventure.

"Oh hey you're the same age as me," she said surprised

I then heard the doorbell ring. Putting on my best customer service smile I looked at 6 people that came in. They were all girls about our age but I also noticed Clara had a twinkle in her eye.

"Friends of yours?" I asked "Yup,"

With a cheerful expression, she headed toward the girls.

"Yo James help me back here," hearing Devon call for me I headed toward the back.

Seeing Devon unloading a few things I helped him get some and put in storage after I did I realized my shift was over.

After I clocked out I walked out and walked past Clara and her friends with my headphones.

'This place is seriously crawling with vampires

Once I exited I made my way to my house. I was waiting until it was night which was largely due to me being curious about the vampires and citizens to go to bed.

Checking in on Rock, the bird tracking him I let out a breath. Putting on the fox mask and bringing out the sword I let out a breath "Now then let's begin"

Opening my eyes again I was standing on top of a building. Feeling the sword in my hand I turned my gaze to the Chimera. My heart almost froze as I saw next to it a human figure. From what I could see they were a mage.

'Must be the guy who made the chimera'

I then whispered to my necklace "Alright buddy you're up,"

Instantly a bright light appeared blinding me. However, when I opened my eyes again I saw a lanky tall creature looking down on the chimera.

Swinging his sword down the chimera immediately reacted jumping back. Taking the chance I appeared behind the mage beside the chimera before I stabbed my sword through their stomach. Using elemental energy of poison to paralyze them.

"argh! Who the hell-?"

"Please stay still," Looking at the figure who had a mask I looked back at the chimera. Currently, Lumine was fighting it.

He kept elegantly swinging his sword while the chimera dodged the attacks. Suddenly it raised its hand and blades of pure darkness launched toward Lumine. But in a swift motion, all three blades were blocked. Then Lumine quickly thrust his sword, however, the creature quickly disappeared from its spot appearing above him.

But before it could do anything I sent a few windblades toward it. Giant gashes appeared on it but they quickly healed. Sensing the attack from behind me I jumped out of the way and in the next instant the spot I was previously standing in was destroyed.

Glancing at the mage I noticed he was already healed.

'Up already? Maybe I should've killed him'

With a sigh, I snapped my fingers.

When I did the area around me was enveloped by a barrier. It looked like tinted glass but then it disappeared.

"A domain? Who are you? Are you from the Magi Association!?" The guy asked

I could tell he wasn't scared however, I knew this would be a pain in the ass if they escaped or someone else intervened. But the main reason was that it would make it easier for the Magi Association to track me.

"Well let's just get this over with"
