Skullery

The snow is gone. Aureate light falls scarcely through the layers of thick spined oaks in Latterby wood. The hushed hustle of another world is deafened by the berating squawks of bannerbirds, high above. Sedal wishes not to be his father's son, passing through the great undergrowth of Latterby wood in search of a unique flower under the orders of his Father. Paths strung with nettles and roses lead him onward, his father's enraged commands echoing through his mind on loop. The falling sun beckons him further, until he is merely a boy in the dark. His tale starts in darkness.
