Chapter 17 - Bloomingturf and a New Adventure

Luke stands before the captain of the royal guards, who is taken over by a fearful dark aura. Meanwhile, Elva thinks, "Going from his words, that man is dangerous. Being able to just control people with their rage is a fearful power that none should ever have. But is that the limit to his power, I wonder?" As she relays this information to Luke, he thinks of a plan and heads towards the captain, ready with his sword. The captain attacks Luke with his fist once again, but this time stops himself while Luke lands double kicks at his face, breaking one of his teeth. Luke then shines his fist and launches it right at the captain's stomach, blowing him away.

The captain crashes into the wall but slowly stands up as the dark aura spreads even more, and a few words come out of his mouth, "Kill... me." Luke moves towards him and says, "Nah, don't wanna," as he teleports right above the captain and charges a kick to his head, making him forcefully bow. Then Luke begins to teleport around him, punching and kicking him brutally, beating him. He then grabs his arm and uses all of his strength to slam him to the ground.

The captain lies on the ground as Luke thinks to himself, "Was that it?" when he feels a tentacle grab onto his leg, and he is pulled and thrown into the air right above the captain, who then shoots out a flamethrower straight towards him. Seeing it coming, Luke teleports once again to the ground, and upon seeing this, the captain stands up once again, while his dark aura continues to take over.

"Just how durable is he?" thinks Luke, as the man covers his body in flames and shoots out multiple flamethrowers at Luke, trying to get him while he runs and dodges these attacks. As he thinks, "I have to figure out a way to defeat him quickly. The more time I take, the more that aura spreads around him... and I have a feeling if it completely takes over him, then there is no other way but to kill him?"

Luke dodges multiple of his attacks and thinks to himself "Wait a minute, what if?" and stops his movement to shine his legs with light and shouts "I AM COUNTING ON YOU ELVA FOR THIS ONE!" surprising Elva as Luke quickly shoots himself towards the captain with his sword up and stabs the man through his stomach making him throw out blood once again.

Elva quickly realized what Luke had planned as she closed her eyes and starts chanting a spell while Luke continued to stab the captain from multiple areas teleporting as blood flew out from his injuries, the man finally fell from his knees as he threw out blood from his mouth, his death was certain and quickly falls to the ground with the dark aura leaving the body.

Seeing this, Luke shouts, "NOW, ELVA, THERE IS NO TIME!" Elva opens her eyes and quickly runs towards the man, sliding down to reach his body and touching it with both her hands as she casts the proof of her race, The Elf's blessing. The captain's body surrounds itself with a bright green aura, his wounds begin to heal, and he comes back to his original state as he slowly opens his eyes.

Luke, seeing this, gives out a sigh of relief and says, "Man, that was a hurdle," while the captain slowly sits up and says, "I can't believe you went on to not kill me in the end. You knew I could have killed you?"

"Yeah, but I had some questions to ask you, hence there is no way I could have killed you," Luke responds. Hearing this, the captain stands back on his feet, and with a serious expression covering his emotions, he replies, "Fine, let us discuss whatever you have to ask."

"First, whatever you know about this dark aura, and second, the golden orb the man took away from you."

"We barely have any information on the dark aura, except that the two people it took away were part of the same family. Secondly, the golden orb was something we were tasked to hold by the King of Bloomingturf, though we have quite less information on it. We were told it was a generational gift passed down in the royal family, and whosoever had it would have an unlimited source of mana."

"Is that so, but why were you told to hold onto it? Is there a particular reason?" Luke inquires.

"Well…" the captain begins to respond, but is interrupted by the news, "Captain, the King has fallen!!"

"It's better if you see it for yourself," the captain replies. He takes both Luke and Elva to a room where a lady wearing a royal gown sits near a bed where a man, whose skin had completely drained of energy, could barely move while multiple mages stand around him.

"Don't tell me that…." Luke starts, to which the captain confirms, "Yeah, that's our king. We don't know the reasons behind it, but he caught a harmful disease that drains away his mana a few months ago. The only thing keeping him alive was the ball, but as soon as it was taken away, he was back on the bed… and now…I would like to make a request from you, Adventurer Luke."

As hearing this, a smile appears on his face as a few hours pass by. Both Elva and Luke walk on the streets of Carole as the sun begins to set when Elva asks, "Are we really doing this?"

Back at the castle, the Captain asked Luke to help them get back the Golden Orb, and in return, they will fulfill any of their wishes. At present, Luke replies, "Of course, it not only benefits us but also the man who is supporting our whole ordeal. He told me he needed more people to support him. So, if we can solve this problem, then both the King of Bloomingturf and of Carole will be on the side of Silva Drestone. What do you think about that?"

"But… Can we trust them?" Elva inquires.

"That can be decided by Silva himself. We are just Adventurers, and don't you feel it, an evil man took away the source of power keeping a King alive, and it is now the Adventurer's job to bring back the peace needed for Carole… just the sound of it fills me with energy," Luke responds.

"Really?" Elva asks.

"Of course, and who knows this adventure awaits. Plus, that man has to be stopped at all costs, because who knows what all can he cause with his power," Luke emphasizes.

Hearing this, Elva thinks of it too and replies, "That is true, but how are we going to find it, and what will be our first step?"

"For now, let's go to Bloomingturf and find out more about this golden orb," Luke suggests. Elva agrees, and they both begin their journey to the City of Bloomingturf.

And the adventure continues…
