Chapter 24 - 10bets,9losses

Everything went as expected, and naturally, Chou Ping won this round effortlessly. However, Kailin didn't see it that way.

From dealing the cards to revealing them, her heart was tense. She secretly sweated for Chou Ping—it was a whole $15,000, equivalent to several months of her salary.

When the results were out, and the dealer handed Chou Ping $15,000 in chips, Kailin finally heaved a sigh of relief.

She had never imagined that making money could be so easy. If it weren't for maintaining some composure, she might have screamed and jumped up.

Patting her chest to calm her excited emotions, Kailin tugged at Chou Ping's arm, saying, "Chou, you've already won $15,000. It's time to stop..."

Kailin felt a bit uneasy saying this. After all, the two were just high school classmates who hadn't seen each other in many years.

Meeting again, they might not even qualify as ordinary friends. But she was a straightforward person, hoping that her old classmate would stop while ahead and avoid getting too involved.

Leaving a $200 chip as a tip, Chou Ping lifted the tray, stood up, and said graciously, "Alright, I'll go somewhere else for a while. Today's luck is good; who knows, I might win another $80,000."

Kailin was speechless. If winning money in the casino were that easy, it would have gone bankrupt long ago.

For the next half hour, the two strolled casually through the casino, and Chou Ping didn't rush to place bets. It wasn't until they reached the slot machines, and Chou Ping saw the symbols on one of the machines, that he grinned.

"Old classmate, it's boring just wandering around. How about trying a few rounds on the slot machines for some light gambling fun?"

Without waiting for an answer, Chou Ping sat down, grabbed a handful of chips from the tray, and handed them to Kailin.

"Since we're here, let's enjoy ourselves. Take these; consider it my treat."

Licking her lips, Kailin, to be honest, felt the atmosphere here and the desire to play. She had refrained earlier because of financial constraints.

"Thanks, I think $100 should be enough for me."

Chou Ping smiled and didn't insist. They each started playing. Kailin exchanged $100 for coins and played casually for entertainment, while Chou Ping exchanged a few thousand coins and followed the betting sequence from memory.

After about half an hour, Kailin suddenly heard a clattering sound from Chou Ping's side. Turning around, she saw coins pouring out of the coin outlet like a waterfall.

"Oh my God, Chou, you're incredible! You've won again!"

Chou Ping smiled, "You're not bad either. After playing for so long, you still have so many coins left."

Kailin blushed slightly. Despite carefully considering the probability every time she gambled, she still lost. On the other hand, Chou Ping, who didn't seem to care, effortlessly won so much. Could it really be just luck?

Anyway, Kailin didn't believe that encountering her brought good luck to Chou Ping.

After this round, Chou Ping won another $10,000, adding to his previous winnings. His total chips exceeded $30,000.

Checking the time, Chou Ping pointed across and said, "Kailin, do you want to keep playing? I'm going to check out the dice area."

Looking at the dozens of coins in her hand, Kailin hesitated.

"Well, I'll just play around here. If I run out of chips, I'll come find you."

"Sure, if you run out, come find me to get some more."

Kailin responded with a polite smile as Chou Ping walked alone towards the dice area. Since the last heavy bet drew too much attention, he deliberately controlled the speed and amount of his winnings this time. Whether it would attract the casino's attention again remained to be seen.

Arriving at the craps area, Chou Ping observed for a while.

Everything was exactly as he remembered. In the round where he had to roll a five, Chou Ping put all his chips, over $30,000, on the five.

Though it drew a few glances, people only thought this guy might be a bit crazy.

"Hey, buddy, aren't you afraid of losing when you bet so much?" a man with a red nose next to him couldn't help asking.

Chou Ping grinned, "I scrimped and saved for a year just for the excitement of this moment. If I lose, I lose!"

"Heh, the way you Asians think is really unique."

Chou Ping smiled as the red-nosed man bet $100 on "small." Even if he won, it would only be a small profit. Amid the cheers of the onlookers, the dealer opened the dice shaker.

"Haha, it's a five! I've won $3,000 in this round!"

The red-nosed man next to Chou Ping was also excited, waving his fists and shouting, "Oh my God, I finally win! I finally win $100!"

Before he could finish speaking, his pupils suddenly contracted. Why did the number five feel so familiar? He quickly looked at Chou Ping's betting position—wasn't it on the five?

Although he didn't know how much Chou Ping had bet, a rough estimate indicated it was tens of thousands. The red-nosed man's eyes turned red.

"Oh, my God, buddy, you're incredibly lucky! You're betting at 1:18 odds!"

Chou Ping also pretended to be surprised and jumped up, "Haha, I won! I actually won! Thanks to the Jade Emperor, thanks to the Buddha..."

Amid Chou Ping's cheers, several white gamblers nearby began to curse.

"Damn, this yellow guy is so lucky!"

"Fuck, this guy is hitting the jackpot!"

Of course, there were gamblers with less severe racial discrimination, approaching Chou Ping to express their congratulations, hoping to share some good luck.

As for the staff responsible for this table, their faces turned dark. Part of their salaries came from a percentage of the winnings. Chou Ping won several hundred thousand dollars, and their few months' worth of commissions were now out of reach.

However, as casino employees, they couldn't afford to appear unable to take losses—except in the situation when Chou Ping won too much too quickly.

The staff acted quickly, with two counting the chips, two calculating the bonus, and others sending someone to the front desk to request more chips. After all, they weren't prepared for so many chips.

In less than five minutes, the results were calculated. Chou Ping had won over $550,000. In the eyes of a big casino, this was still considered a relatively large but not earth-shattering amount.

Soon, Chou Ping received his chips.

"Hey, buddy, what are you betting on the next round? I'll follow your bet!" the red-nosed man approached enthusiastically.

Holding the chips, Chou Ping, with a serious expression, advised, "Brother, I suggest you, ten bets, nine losses. It's better to stop when you're ahead."
