The Sun stood proudly in a clear blue sky with occasional dots here and there because of birds and the occasional wyverns... which was something normal at this point if Mordred went by how many of those damned lizards she'd run into by now.
"Man... Mother, don't you think you're getting way too carried away?" The Knight of Betrayal sat on an empty barrel, "We been heading in the wrong goddamn direction! Not even wrong, the literal fucking opposite! And what the fuck are we even doing at this point?! Did you really forget what we were here for?"
"LONG LIVE THE KING!!"
"GLORY TO BRITANNIA!!"
Her protests were drowned out by the shouting and cheering of knights, squires and levies making the knight groan and facepalm.
Her 'mother' had dragged her along in search of their missing Master and for some reason, she couldn't find it in herself to refuse when met with those expectant golden eyes... And she didn't know whether to call what happened next luck or tragedy.
They'd come across a retreating contingent of soldiers from their homeland set upon by overgrown lizards, killed said lizards and then her mother declared herself King Arthur... following said declaration up with a 'tyrant's' demand for all their food supplies.
...For some reason, they'd complied and offered everything up along with their loyalty and a plea for help with their century long campaign cause if France had a bunch of legendary heroes appear outta nowhere, why couldn't they?
"Guess that's what Charisma does to folks." Mordred chortled to herself, they became yes men like most of the idiots she remembered from King Arthur's reign, "Why's she accepting it though?"
Was it because a tyrant would use everything and destroy all enemies to her reign?
Artoria raised Excalibur Morgan to the skies and the blade pulsed with energy before she shouted out a warcry all the while maintaining a poker face.
"Onwards men! To the destruction of the French and the liberation of my Master from their clutches! For the snacks!! ... TO DEATH!!"
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Mordred shouted out in shock, "That's absurd!"
Unfortunately, she underestimated the effect of the Charisma skill on the common masses and Artoria's desire to retrieve he who brings snacks and joy to the dull life of a tyrant.
...It was too late.
"I don't get what he's saying but I'm fooking in! We'll fight those bloody cunts to the death!!"
"Mate, look at that devotion! King Arthur thinks the throne is a Master to righteously serve! It brings a tear to me eye!"
""""UWOOOOHHH!!""""
The motivated contingent rushed off behind Artoria in a cloud of dust and smoke, leaving behind a desolate camp and a Mordred that had her jaw hanging low in awe and shock.
"..T-The fuck?"
The Knight of Betrayal slowly looked around at her suddenly empty surroundings, her mind processing the events that had transpired within mere moments.
"...Pft-"
She burst out laughing.
"Wo-..."
And fell backwards.
It was at this moment that her D Ranked Luck chose to come in like a wrecking ball and she landed in a steaming pile of horse shit.
-
"Ahhh! It's the Dragon Witch!"
"Run for your lives!"
"Elea! Take the kids and run!"
"No René! I won't leave you!"
Nicholas stared at the commotion flatly, face devoid of any and all emotion as his violet eyes moved from person to person, burning their faces into memory with no effort on his part, "...The fuck is wrong with these people?"
"This is what you'll have to deal with now... You chose a witch over God." Jeanne explained, smiling sadistically at the village folk's turmoil, "The God that's supposed to be saving these worthless pieces of trash... You were right, they're not worth my time."
"Huh... their loss."
The teenager shrugged dismissively, anyone that ran away from a goth chick willing to engage in bro talk was a mad fool that deserved no further thought whatsoever... Although, seeing said 'chick' flush so hard you'd think she was doing the one chip challenge moments after he talked was slightly... concerning.
Nicholas punched the weird thoughts away and went on with his day.
"You know Amadeus, I'm starting to think Nick might be kind of dumb." Marie pointed out, curiously looking around at the lush fields all around them.
"You don't think about it because you can't... He chooses not to because he thinks it's annoying and gets in the way of him punching things." Mozart replied calmly, amusedly glancing at the occasional horrified peasant that thought he was going to get burnt alive, "Both of you are equally challenged however, so neither gets to mock the other."
"Ehh... what's that even mean?" The monarch asked innocently.
The musician only sighed and shrugged his hands in response, "My point exactly."
The French Queen shrugged and ran up to Nicholas instead, jumping onto his back with a small giggle, "Hey Hey Hey Nick, want me to knight you?"
"Holy shit, you can do that?"
"Of course I caan! I really was the Queen of France before the revolution!"
"Get the fuck off him whore."
Their little 'talk' was interrupted by a familiar purple haired woman crashing down in front of them, standing on the back of a six legged, turtle shaped dragon with a lion's mane?
"Oh... sup Martha? How's it been?" Nicholas gave a small salute, greeting his first servant with a small smile, "No... wait, something's off."
The woman stared at him for a few moments before tilting her head in confusion, "... Who might you be, young man? I'll admit I do feel a bit of familiarity… You recognise him, Tarasque?"
The beast under her grunted and shook it's head.
-
Martha pumped her fist and thanked her Lord and Saviour from the depths of her maiden heart, "YES! YES! ..." The Saint raised both hands to the sky and cheered loudly, startling her companions for the umpteenth time before shouting out a loud prayer, "Thank you, God... My belief in you has been once more re-affirmed. Grant this lost lamb the opportunity to achieve her heart's desire. Thank you for this blessed opportunity!"
"With how enthusiastic she is, you'd think she saved the world." Gudako flatly stared at the Saint, pursing her lips and holding up a hand to silence Mash who'd opened her mouth to explain before throwing a dry branch into the fire they'd lit up after the Sun set, "I know what she's grateful about, don't say it or I'm going to start thinking about booking an early meeting with her God."
Their newest companion paused for a moment, reeling in pleasant surprise before giggling into the palms of her gauntlets as her long blonde hair shivered from the sudden movement, "It is always gratifying to see a devout believer of our Lord. Pardon me for laughing, I was simply taken aback by the ferocity of her belief."
Said companion was also a heroic spirit summoned because of the Holy Grail responsible for this singularity and had joined up with them to strike down the Dragon Witch who they concluded held it.
"Trust me lady." Gudako pointed a stick at the woman, "If you knew why she's doing it, you'd be questioning your life."
"I find that hard to believe..." The woman stared at the darkening sky, "It is also affirmation for me that true Saints are different, unlike myself. It is an honour to meet the Saint of Tarascon."
"Jeanne... I give up." Gudako smiled in defeat.
Mash talked in her stead, regarding Jeanne seriously, "Miss Jeanne, I don't think the tale of Jeanne D'Arc pales in comparison to Miss Martha's... I know Nicholas-senpai would be elated to meet you... He was really looking forward to it."
"He must be a great man... to summon a Saint."
"Haha! But I met her first!" Martha chose to interject at that point, holding up a fist, "Now I'll nip everything in the bud!"
The dragon vanquishing Saint suddenly gained awareness of her immediate surroundings and threw a coughing fit, smiling afterwards with so much grace you'd think she wasn't about to punch Jeanne D'Arc when they first met.
"It's an honour to meet you too, dear. I admire your dedication and mettle." Martha complimented Jeanne with a gentle smile, "It's a bit embarrassing to be regarded with so much respect."
"That's because Nicholas treats you like a deadbeat husband. Am I the only one with common sense here?"
"...I'll seriously punch you."
