Chereads / Return Of The Magician / Chapter 21 - Abraham Seales

Chapter 21 - Abraham Seales

Oliver Charleston entered room 305, his eyes scanning the figure standing there in disguise. The man before him was wearing black cloak that covered his whole person," although all the movement of this person was presented to him but Oliver couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to this mysterious individual.

Henry noticed the two needed privacy so he didn't bother to hang around; he had accomplished what he planned. He has shown his presence to both parties.

Oliver studied Cyan for a moment contemplating the best approach to obtain the information he sought. He decided to start with a more subtle tactic. "I've heard remarkable things about your skills as a pharmacist. Can you provide any insight into how this supposed cure for the black veil disease was created?"

Cyan shifted slightly, his gaze meeting Oliver's with a sense of confidence. "Commander Charleston, the creation of the cure involved years of research and countless experiments. It was a culmination of my expertise in potion-making and a deep understanding of the disease itself."

Oliver sensed that Cyan was being evasive, guarded with his words. His frustration grew, realizing that a more straightforward approach may be necessary.

"I've come here seeking answers," Oliver asserted, his voice firm and direct. "Can you provide me with the cure for the black veil disease?"

Cyan sighed, the big fish finally took the bait.

Without saying a word, he reached into the box he used to store the potion and retrieved one top-grade potions, carefully presenting them to Oliver. The potion was a golden liquid, shimmering with tiny green flecks.

"This is the cure to the shadow veil you seek, the name is Shadow Bane. Observe these potions closely, Commander Charleston," Cyan remarked. "You may not be a pharmacist, but I believe your experience has given you a discerning eye."

Taking the potions into his hands, Oliver observed the golden luminous potion with green flecks. He felt a strong vitality emanating from the potion as he opened it, the aroma wafting towards his nose. It was unlike anything he had ever experienced.

Seeking further confirmation, Oliver turned to Cyan. "May I have your permission to have the accompanying senior pharmacist examine this potion with me? Their expertise may provide valuable insights."

Cyan nodded, giving his consent. "Certainly, Commander Charleston. Allow the senior pharmacist to study the potion."

Oliver wasted no time summoning the senior pharmacist into the room as they entered, their presence commanded respect, emanating an air of confidence and knowledge.

"Sir, this senior pharmacist has generously allowed us to examine the potion," Oliver announced, passing the vial into their waiting hands. The senior pharmacist attempted to use their soul power to gain insight into Cyan's true identity but found their efforts met with a formidable barrier. Cyan allowed the scrutiny, unfazed by the intrusion.

"My name is Abraham Seales," the senior pharmacist introduced themselves, a note of curiosity lacing their words. "I don't believe we've crossed paths before, have we?"

Cyan's surprise was palpable. Abraham Seales, a legendary figure in the world of pharmacology, had achieved a feat that had become the stuff of legends. His accomplishments were renowned throughout the world.

"No, we haven't met before," Cyan responded truthfully.

Abraham furrowed their brow, seeming momentarily disappointed but quickly brushed it off. "Ah, well, many senior pharmacists prefer to lead solitary lives. It is not uncommon for us to remain hidden from the public eye."

The conversation shifted as Abraham began to examine the potion, scrutinizing its contents, his eyes widened with intrigue and surprise. Each element was carefully observed, his expressions dancing between curiosity and admiration.

"There are Shadow root vine and Death shade, both highly toxic," Abraham mused aloud. "And yet, they are balanced within this potion, creating an incredible vitality. The Lifestem vine adds to its healing properties, while the infusion of Prismthorn is tastefully unconventional. I must admit, I have never seen Prismthorn employed in this manner."

A spark of pride ignited within Cyan as he listened to Abraham's observation. The hidden ingredients and their harmonious combination were a testament to his expertise and innovative thinking.

Abraham turned their attention to Cyan, a mixture of awe and respect shining in their eyes. "This is no ordinary potion. It displays a mastery of knowledge and an understanding of balance that is truly exceptional. What is exciting is, most of the medicinal plants used are common plants."

Abraham laughed happily, "When this comes out it will prove my point that there's no useless plants, we are the ones that haven't tapped into their key yet,"

Cyan saw true joy in Abraham's eyes, what a nostalgic look. His master will also have the same look when he comes up with new research.

"I'm glad to have piqued your interest, Senior Pharmacist Seales," Cyan replied modestly. "The use of prismthorn was an unconventional choice, but prismthorn alone won't work but when paired with lifestem sap, it boosts the healing properties of the light elements in it."

Abraham fell into deep thought as he nodded, a gleam of admiration in their eyes. "Quite an accomplishment, Your understanding of potion-making and your ability to balance these diverse and potent ingredients is truly impressive."

Oliver, who had been silently observing the exchange, spoke up. "Senior, the effectiveness of this cure is undeniable. I won't beat around the bush, I want it. Senior might not know my wife is also suffering from this disease and her condition has deteriorated and she has stopped responding to treatment. I promise to meet any condition senior has, as long as it is not detrimental to the populace and not against my bottom line."

Cyan's disguised face softened, their eyes reflecting compassion. "Commander, I am truly sorry to hear about your wife's condition. My plan is not to provide a one time potion, I would like to donate the prescription to the Federation but on the condition the treatment would be made affordable to the public without any families or pharmaceutical companies monopolizing it. Also after the commander heals his wife we can discuss other conditions, I also promise it is within the commander's capability"

Oliver breathed a sigh of relief, if this senior pharmacist makes outrageous demands he knows he doesn't have a choice but to meet it since he is not only his family benefactor but also the whole Federation.

"Senior, since you have entrusted me with this, with Senior Abraham as a witness I pledge to do everything in my power to ensure this cure reaches every corner of the Federation" Oliver pledged with sincerity.

Cyan took out the box he had specially prepared for the commander, as it contains Four top grade potions and the prescription along with the dosage depending on the grade of the potion. He passed it to Oliver who was waiting eagerly.

Oliver opened the box, he saw the Four top grade potions he knew this is a gift from the senior. He is grateful for the Senior's generosity, even if they have the prescription it will take time before it is prepared. Now that he knows there's a cure he doesn't want his wife to wait. He noted all this down, he must do his best to fulfill the Senior's conditions.

Oliver passed the parchment to Abraham who is very eager to see the prescription.

"Ingenious!" Abraham yelled as he read the words written on the parchment, "when those guys see this they are about to die of excitement. The high Vitality is actually from bark of Spirit wood, this is a new discovery. " Abraham's excitement was through the roof especially when he saw one of the ingredients is purple clover. Purple clover is a common weed used to mask odors in the wild, no one thought its properties could serve as a stabilizer and neutralizer.

A lot of theory couldn't be researched because of conflicting elements. This has limited pharmacology growth in recent times. With the discovery of purple clover as an example there might be a lot of plants in the wide that can also serve as base. This will open new doors in the pharmacology world.

Abraham couldn't wait to try out this prescription, he believes it will give him more insight and this could be the breakthrough he's been searching for. In recent years, his pharmacology growth hit a bottleneck.

Abraham didn't bother with Oliver as he bid farewell to the two in the room. The two didn't mind as this is the nature of pharmacists. Once they see something that interests them they get carried away, unfortunately Cyan also has this occupational disease.

Cyan knows Oliver is as eager as Abraham to leave but his noble upbringing won't let him. "Commander, we have a lot to do, why don't we schedule a follow up meeting in a week's time, so we can discuss my conditions?"

"No problem Senior, but Senior I don't know your name or contact"

"In a week's time you will know all the necessary information, as for contact let's meet here at the same time, same place".

Oliver didn't push this time, Senior must have his own reason. So he agreed. As he was about to leave the room he heard Cyan's voice, "commander please don't forget the two families without their help this deal won't be possible".

Oliver nodded in acknowledgement he already has a reward for the two families. He has two recommendation spots for the military academy at the capital; he believes the two families will be satisfied with this.
