Jacob and Sarah had finally finished moving into a new house, hoping to revive the spirits of their small family.
Jacob landed a new job as a director at a major company, allowing Sarah to rest at home due to her recent hospitalization.
Three years ago, they were as happy as any newlywed couple, the perfect moment they had dreamed of with the presence of their families and dear friends, celebrating a grand party for all the guests.
Sarah looked perfect in her snow-white wedding dress, walking lightly down the aisle toward the love of her life, Jacob.
He was handsomely dressed in a custom-made suit that fit perfectly on his broad shoulders, waiting at the altar for the woman he loved.
The moment was magical when they both said "I do," consecrating their union in much joy.
Jacob and Sarah were born into families with many properties in the city where they lived. Their parents always engaged in significant business deals, which led the two young fiancés to meet in their adolescence.
After a few years, with Jacob at 25 and Sarah at 24, they decided it was time to solidify their union in marriage after four years of dating.
The perfect life of a couple that everyone dreams of was what they lived. An eternal honeymoon. Supportive families, promising careers, everything was perfect.
Sarah specialized in fashion, already achieving some recognition in the industry with her beautiful and daring dresses for high society. Meanwhile, Jacob became a respected Financial Manager within his father's company and occasionally assisted his father-in-law's company, Sarah's father.
A world painted in rosy hues.
Two years after the wedding, one could count on fingers the few arguments the couple had had until then. Even the minor disagreements ceased altogether when Sarah announced she was pregnant. The families were ecstatic, as it would be the first grandchild for both.
Jacob had two older brothers, but neither had married yet. Sarah only had a younger sister still in school.
The atmosphere of happiness infected everyone day by day.
But when everything goes well, something always goes wrong. And for Jacob and Sarah, this saying proved true.
At four months pregnant, Sarah began to have serious complications in her pregnancy. With many visits to the best doctors the city could offer, she endured another month of agony and pain.
Unfortunately, in the end, the worst happened, and she lost the child she carried with Jacob. The sadness spread much faster than the happiness of months before; everyone felt the heavy burden in the air.
However, not enough, one piece of bad news always leads to another. A few days later, the doctors announced that Sarah had suffered serious damage to her uterus and could no longer bear children in her lifetime.
This caused her to fall into a serious mental disorder, blaming herself for the loss of the child. But Jacob was always there to support her in every moment. Did he want to be a father? Yes. However, despite that, he loved his wife even more, and seeing her in that state only made him feel the same pain.
Concerned about taking care of his wife, Jacob had several arguments with his family, with the most recurrent being arguments with his father. His father even suggested divorcing Sarah because she couldn't give an heir to the family, and he deserved more. Consumed by anger, this was the lowest point for him, coming to hate his own family and the moments he had to spend with them.
Considering their needs and Sarah's, within a month, Jacob resigned from his father's company and, with his savings, focused solely on taking care of his wife, who needed his help more than anything to recover.
On Sarah's family side, unfortunately, she faced a similar treatment. Her father, having only daughters, dreamed of having a male heir to take over his businesses in the future. When he learned that she could no longer conceive due to the damage to her uterus, he began to ignore her and focus on arranging a good marriage for his younger daughter.
Only Sarah's mother was devastated, but she followed her husband's decisions to please him and avoid arguments at home, further breaking the heart of her precious daughter.
In the end, Sarah could only rely on Jacob, and he on her. It would only be the two of them against everyone; they loved each other and would continue together, facing all challenges.
They stayed in the city until the moment Sarah was released from the hospital after seeking help to overcome her loss. They decided to leave everything behind now and start afresh in a new city.

Jacob had an exhausting day getting acquainted with all the departments of the new company where he would be working. For the first time, he would take on the role of a director in a financial sector and wanted to be prepared for the challenge.
Opening the door of their new home, a very spacious apartment he bought to ensure comfort for his wife, Sarah was sitting in an armchair reading a book, waiting for him.
"Hello, dear," he said, kissing her.
Sarah smiled sweetly at him. "Hello, love," she replied.
Setting his briefcase down on the counter to rest his arms, Jacob asked, "How was your day?"
"Wonderful. Today I went to the nearby street market, and it was fun," she smiled, recounting her day. "And on the way back, I passed by the park."
"The park?" Jacob asked, as after the loss of the child, Sarah often visited parks to admire children playing. It was good for her to get out and have fun, but going to the park to see children could be emotionally challenging for her.
"Yes... I even saw a cute little boy," she smiled. "He was wearing a raincoat," she recounted, remembering the adorable little boy.
"But it was sunny today," he thought. "A raincoat?" he asked, intrigued.
