Chapter 177 - Chapter 177: The Chosen King (I)

Daenerys pulled out the Lightbringer, and the power of the sword responded to her call, shocking everyone present.

Especially the dazzling golden light and terrifying heat emitted by Lightbringer made people have to admit that this was indeed the legendary sword.

And Daenerys, wielding this sword, could indeed be considered the reincarnation of Azor Ahai, the destined savior and king on earth.

Underneath, the fanatics and many mercenaries who were swayed by Daenerys had already bowed their heads, showing respect to her.

After a while, Daenerys lowered her hand holding the sword, and Lightbringer also modestly dimmed its light and flames.

Melisandre was about to step forward to announce the result.

However, before anyone else could react, Euron Greyjoy stood up again—this delighted Alaric, as he didn't even have to seek trouble, someone came forward to be the scapegoat for him.

Euron Greyjoy looked at Daenerys with his greedy and disdainful single eye, and said viciously.

"Why should a little girl be able to pull out the Lightbringer?

She can't even defeat an adult man, such a pretty girl, why doesn't she just find a man to marry instead of competing for the title of king here?"

He didn't dare to say the ceremony was a scam because the miracles of the Dragon God Church and the power of Lightbringer were there.

Euron Greyjoy's words were harsh and greatly insulted Daenerys. How could Melisandre tolerate this?

Someone actually looked down upon their chosen savior, their king. She wanted to step forward and cast a spell to punish him.

But Daenerys stopped Melisandre. She knew this was an opportunity to showcase her strength.

She held Lightbringer and walked up to Greyjoy, saying coldly, "Do you want to taste the little girl's sword in your mouth?"

Looking at the confident Daenerys in front of him, Euron Greyjoy's blue single eye twitched nervously, but his greed for Daenerys and her power overwhelmed his unease.

Daenerys's age and slender figure also made him let down his guard, so he put on his armor, picked up his sword, and stepped forward, accepting Daenerys's challenge.

The crowd made way for them, and Greyjoy and Daenerys prepared to duel in this open space.

Everyone was eagerly anticipating this duel.

Some hoped that the savior Daenerys would show her martial prowess so they could pledge allegiance to her with confidence, while others wanted to see the power of Lightbringer in combat.

There was a distance of fifty yards between the two. Daenerys strode forward, and Greyjoy responded quickly.

He felt somewhat annoyed; obviously, when dueling with a girl, being taken by surprise by her proactive attack made him feel scorned.

When there were only ten yards left, Greyjoy stopped and spoke, "Did they tell you who I am?"

Daenerys snorted contemptuously, "Some dead man."

She continued forward, unfazed.

Greyjoy became even more angry inside. He stared into the girl's eyes, expecting to see fear, as he enjoyed tormenting people's minds, even his own brothers despised him for this.

"Why aren't you wearing armor, little girl?" he sneered, "Is it because you can't wait to lose, so that you could throw yourself into my arms?"

Daenerys ignored his taunts, held her sword with both hands, assuming a fairly standard stance, and then replied.

"To deal with scum like you, I don't even need to put on armor."

However, Greyjoy seized the opportunity of her speaking, swiftly charging forward from the side.

From Daenerys's movements, he could tell that the girl in front of him had indeed learned swordsmanship, her movements were quite standard, but she lacked real combat experience.

He agilely attacked from the flank, his longsword aiming precisely and maliciously at Daenerys's throat.

This direction was neither high nor low, quite difficult for a novice like Daenerys to parry—especially with insufficient strength—she could only attempt to dodge, and then the initiative in the fight would completely be in Greyjoy's hands.

However, Daenerys's reaction disappointed him.

She didn't dodge or evade, just leaned back slightly, and swung Lightbringer with all her might towards Greyjoy's sword.

Want to directly confront me, and match strength?

Greyjoy was puzzled. She was just a girl, why should she compete with him in strength?

Especially from this angle, according to the principle of leverage—of course Greyjoy didn't know this, but he understood the general rule—Daenerys, who didn't have much strength to begin with, would surely be at a disadvantage. Wasn't this just asking for trouble?

However, when the two swords made contact, Greyjoy realized he was wrong.

Daenerys's sword was heavier and sharper than he had imagined. His sword was almost split in half the moment it made contact, and he himself was pushed back by the force.

In the next moment, Daenerys immediately followed up with a swift thrust, as if the previous contact hadn't affected her at all.

Greyjoy had no chance to react.

Daenerys pressed her entire weight onto Lightbringer, and the sword pierced through Greyjoy's plate armor effortlessly, entering his chest and then piercing out from his back.

No blood flowed out.

In the next moment, Greyjoy's armor immediately turned into a hot red color where Lightbringer pierced through, and the area where Lightbringer pierced through simply melted into molten iron.

Immediately after, Greyjoy's entire body was engulfed in golden flames, he didn't even make a sound, he was incinerated into ashes by these flames.

The flames and high temperature on Lightbringer immediately shocked all the onlookers.

They could see that Daenerys herself didn't have the advantage in terms of technique, but this instant victory was entirely dependent on the power of Lightbringer.

Someone had a clever idea and immediately went to check Greyjoy's broken sword. They found that the broken part of the sword looked completely melted.

With such a sword, what weapons and armor could stop her?

The fanatics immediately knelt down, witnessing Greyjoy's death by being pierced and burnt, just like the legend of the White Walkers being pierced by Azor Ahai with Lightbringer.

After killing Greyjoy and winning the duel, Daenerys, with one hand holding the sword, took a deep breath, then looked around and asked loudly,

"Does anyone else want to challenge me?"

She looked at Prandta Na Jisen, Bald Sallo, and Daario Naharis, "the Prince of Tatters," Mero, Harry Strickland, and others, all first-rate heroes, but everyone she met with their eyes, whether mercenary or knight, all lowered their heads.

So she nodded satisfactorily and returned to the stone platform.

At this moment, Melisandre finally stood up, cleared her throat, and solemnly announced.

"According to the prophecy of Azor Ahai: After the long summer, when the stars bleed, Azor Ahai will be reborn in the smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone.

This prophecy fits none other than Her Majesty Daenerys.

From smoke and salt was she born to make the world anew.

She is Azor Ahai returned ... and her triumph over darkness will bring a summer that will never end ... death itself will bend its knee, and all those who die fighting in her cause shall be reborn.
