Chapter 106 - Chapter 106: Ether Factor

Alaric efficiently dismantled the unfortunate Welsh Green Dragon into materials, collected them, and then used magic to erase any traces.

Next, he began searching for the next victim, preparing to further experience the sensation of absorbing dragon souls.

Unfortunately, reality disappointed him. The dragon soul of the second green dragon provided less than one-tenth of the enhancement compared to the first one.

This left Alaric greatly disappointed, and he was unsure whether this diminishing effect was specific to the dragons or if it applied even to the souls of larger dragons.

However, this did not halt Alaric's journey.

Early the next morning, he left the Welsh Green Dragon protection area and arrived at the Hebridean Islands in Scotland, where a species of Hebridean Black Dragon lived.

In comparison to the Welsh Green Dragon, they were quite combative, requiring a territory of one hundred square miles each.

For centuries, the MacFusty clan living on the Hebridean Islands had maintained the tradition of caring for the Hebridean Black Dragons.

Still operating at night, this time, Alaric was pleasantly surprised to find that the dragon soul of the Hebridean Black Dragon could rival the enhancement he got from absorbing the Welsh Green Dragon's soul.

This made Alaric understand that the enhancement from dragon souls of the same species had limitations, and he had to absorb souls of different types to effectively strengthen himself.

In the following days, Alaric spent his time on the road—during the day, Orianna drove the bus through different countries, and at night, he infiltrated the dragon protection areas to hunt dragons.

From the Catalonian Fireball Dragon to the Portugal Long-Snout Dragon, from the Norwegian Ridgeback Dragon to the Swedish Short-Snout Dragon.

From the Hungarian Horntail Dragon to the Romania Long-Horned Dragon, and then to theUkrainian Ironbelly, Alaric almost traveled all over Europe in his car.

Next, he crossed Eastern Europe, traversed the Ural Mountains and Siberia to reach Asia, then crossed the Pacific to reach Australia, flew from Australia to North America.

Then from North America to South America, crossed the Atlantic to reach Africa.

Dragons from all over the world, including the Fireball Dragon, Antipodean Opaleye from New Zealand, and the Peruvian Vipertooth, became souls under his sword.

Finally, he traveled from Egypt northward, crossed the Mediterranean, and returned to England.

By the time he flew to Hogwarts, the Christmas holiday had just come to an end.

During this journey, he had almost visited nearly twenty major dragon protection areas globally, collecting almost all types of dragons.

In addition, the blood of seven or eight kinds of Long-Horned Water Snakes was also in his possession.

In his storage room, the materials from dragons alone filled dozens of traceless extension-charmed storage boxes.

Moreover, the enhancement from the dragon souls of so many different kinds of dragons was quite evident.

Now, he felt that his mental and magical powers had increased several times compared to before he set out. It was now enough to rival Dumbledore and the Dark Lord.

In terms of the soul, if his soul could only be compared to a young dragon before, now his soul's level was comparable to some ancient dragons.

Of course, he didn't forget to prepare Christmas gifts this time. His mechanical assistant, Orianna, helped him prepare a special gift—dragonhide gloves.

As one of the gains from this journey, Alaric's inventory of dragonhide was too extensive.

Orianna used various dragonhides to make a set of colorful dragonhide gloves: the red one was from the Fireball Dragon, the brass-colored one was from the Peruvian Vipertooth.

The green one was from the Welsh Green Dragon, the dark green one was from the Romanian Long-Horned Dragon... This set of gifts was considered exquisite and special.

In addition, the gifts for the three girls were quite special: three talismans made from the horns of Long-Horned Water Snakes and the gems on their foreheads.

These talismans could resist the attacks of dark magic on the wearer, including certain dark creatures' attacks—specifically aimed at the serpents roaming around Hogwarts.

Of course, no matter how powerful the talisman was, it couldn't endlessly withstand damage.

Therefore, Alaric added a magical script to the talisman. Once the talisman was triggered, he could sense the specific location and promptly rush to the rescue.

At Alaric's strong request, the three girls kept the talismans close to their bodies and promised not to take them off.

However, this request unavoidably led to misunderstandings, but Alaric no longer cared about such things.

With his worries resolved, Alaric could finally immerse himself in the Room of Requirement, focusing on his experiments with dragon blood.

The main content of the experiment was to analyze how dragon blood enabled Alaric to possess the magic of a dragon, allowing him to transform into a giant dragon through Animagus transformation.

The method for a half-breed to undergo dragonization was through purifying the bloodline.

In the Type-Moon world, it involved implanting a dragon's heart and unleashing the power within the heart when needed to transform into dragons.

In other words, as long as the proportion of the dragon's part in the bloodline could be rapidly increased in a short time, dragonization could be achieved—whether it was obtaining dragon blood through purification or creating dragon blood through the heart, the result was the same.

But how did dragon blood turn a person into a dragon?

Firstly, it turned the body into a dragon through genetics, and secondly, it transformed magical power into dragon magic through factors that could influence magical power.

The reason dragons had powerful magical abilities was only related to two things—bloodline and soul.

The dragon's heart was the magic furnace of the dragon. Unlike other fantasy species, the magic generated by dragons was true ether.

This was the most primitive form of magic, the one closest to the essence of rules and the magic of the gods.

Therefore, in many worlds, the existence of dragons represented mystery and the only source of magic, even symbolizing the Earth Mother goddess with the dragon snake.

For worlds with a scarcity of magic and ether, the existence of dragons was the only source of mystery and magic.

However, the fusion of dragon genes with human genes caused serious instability.

Fortunately, Alaric didn't need to consider this issue because the existence of Animagus could already transform him into a dragon at the physical and genetic levels.

So now, what he needed to do was to purify the dragon blood, extract the part that affected the generation of true ether, and use it to modify himself.

This was not a simple process, but fortunately, Alaric had enough dragon blood in stock.

This step took him nearly a month, and his entire January was consumed by it.

From the blood of various dragons, he extracted different etheric factors—so-called etheric factors, which existed only in concept and did not belong to real substance.

These factors were obviously flawed, and Alaric believed it was due to the impurity or degeneration of the blood of the dragons in the world of Harry Potter, compared to the Giant Dragons.

However, because he collected a sufficient variety of dragon blood, through a series of mixing and complementing, Alaric was finally able to extract a relatively perfect etheric factor.

He believed that such an etheric factor was already very close to a real Giant Dragon.

So, he was left with the final step, which was to inject this etheric factor into his own heart.

Due to the dragon's soul, these etheric factors would not mutually repel his body.

As long as the injection was successful, he would gradually be able to possess the ability to produce true ether, just like dragons.

When he completed Animagus, this etheric factor would be activated, and his heart would be able to generate true ether like that of dragons, making him a complete dragon after transformation.

In this way, the flaw of Animagus being unable to transform into magical creatures could be resolved.
