Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: How to Become a Dragon?

Although Alaric claimed to have a solution for transforming into a dragon, but in reality, it was more of an educated guess.

In many worlds, there exists a concept of humans turning into dragons, allowing Alaric to catch a glimpse of the essence of dragons and understand the process of human-to-dragon transformation.

The most typical examples are from worlds where the essence of dragons lies in blood. In the world of "Dragon Clan," individuals of mixed human and dragon blood are known as hybrids.

And the purer the dragon blood in these hybrids, the closer they are to actual dragons. However, those lacking in talent and willpower may succumb to becoming Death Eaters.

In "Fairy Tail," the essence of dragons is tied to knowledge, specifically Dragon Slayer Magic.

Magic users who master this art can transform into dragons. The ultimate boss in this world, Acnologia, the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse, is the first human to become a dragon.

In the world of "The Elder Scrolls," the essence of dragons is in the soul.

Dragonborn individuals are considered kin to dragons due to possessing dragon souls.

These Dragonborns can further strengthen themselves by absorbing dragon souls. Without a dragon soul, a dragon's corpse is reduced to mere bones.

Other worlds, such as the Fate series, feature concepts like a dragon's heart granting power.

For instance, King Arthur (Artoria Pendragon) possesses the strength of a red dragon due to having its heart.

Alaric found the most reliable approach for him was to attempt the first method.

The allure he felt during his transformation and the emotional trials he underwent hinted at the importance of dragon blood.

The second method seemed less reliable since he couldn't obtain Dragon Slayer Magic.

Even other famous dragon-related magic, like Dragon Language Magic from various worlds, was beyond his reach.

In this world, dragons were merely low-intelligence magical creatures without a written language, let alone dragon language magic.

As for the third method, he had already undergone a similar experience.

After overcoming mental temptations and trials, he felt his soul undergo a profound transfiguration, embodying both human and dragon souls.

Dragons symbolize ultimate desire and power. Within Alaric's soul, the essence and power represented by dragon souls had already surfaced.

Although this change only granted him a moderately effective buff called Dragon Soul for now, he believed one day he would discover the true impact of Dragon Soul on him.

Lastly, there was a genetic modification method, theoretically possible for becoming a dragon.

However, this was just a theory. Firstly, his knowledge of genetic technology was limited, and secondly, the current world lacked the scientific capability for such research.

Besides, he suspected potential issues with purely scientific research on dragon genetics.

In World of Warcraft, the renowned scientist Deathwing, a dragon himself, with extensive magical knowledge and a talented team, still ended up creating a bunch of chaotic monsters when researching dragon genetics.

Therefore, focusing on dragon blood seemed the most practical for Alaric. He planned to collect dragon blood during the Christmas holiday by embarking on a global journey.

Visiting all dragon sanctuaries worldwide, and obtaining samples from various dragons – the only recognized dragons in this world.

Additionally, creatures like the Horned Serpent in America were worth studying.

Muggles often mistook them for dragons. Alaric believed they might also carry dragon blood.

Simultaneously, besides obtaining dragon blood, Alaric wanted to experiment with absorbing dragon souls by killing dragons, similar to Dragonborns.

Although he didn't expect to gain Dragon Language Magic through this method – as the dragons he encountered had no knowledge of such magic – it was a practical approach to strengthen himself.

Having fought a dragon in the Forbidden Forest, Alaric understood that his current magic wouldn't easily penetrate a dragon's strong magical resistance.

To deal more effectively with dragons, including Hogwarts' serpent, he decided to craft some swords using alchemy before Christmas. These swords would be similar to the Sword of Gryffindor.

Deciding to take action, Alaric first needed to solve the material problem.

Since in Hogwarts one couldn't use Apparition, he planned to sneak into Hogsmeade during the weekend and purchase some silverware from magical creatures.

Specifically Goblin's Silver – a precious metal similar to Mithril, the most valuable material in the world. Gryffindor's sword was forged from this pure silver.
