Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Lurue and Final Exams

The following battle was almost completely one-sided.

Alaric rode a unicorn, facing Voldemort, who was lacking in magic, and had the upper hand in both speed and attack.

As a result, Voldemort had to turn into black smoke, chased everywhere by him.

Suddenly, footsteps and hoofbeats came from a distance.

Wizards and centaurs who heard the sounds of battle rushed over upon hearing the news.

Seeing that Voldemort had no chance to draw the attention of the unicorn again, he immediately stopped engaging with Alaric, turned into black smoke again, and disappeared into the jungle.

Alaric watched him leave and did not pursue. This was not the opportune moment to kill him.

Just wait a few days—

Alaric rode the unicorn back to the lake, where he encountered the expected people.

"Alaric!" Hagrid exclaimed loudly. "How did you end up here? Oh my, what are you riding? A unicorn! How did you manage that?"

Beside him, Harry was also greatly surprised. He couldn't believe he ran into Alaric here, and he was riding a legendary creature, a beautiful unicorn.

Behind him, two centaurs greeted Alaric with joy.

"Hello, young wizard. You always manage to surprise us. Since you're riding this unicorn, it means the crisis has been averted, right?"

"Hello, Bane, and Ronan," Alaric nodded to them casually.

"You're right. There was a half-dead dark wizard who intruded into the Forbidden Forest, trying to extend his life by drinking unicorn blood. I've chased him away, and I doubt he'll dare to come back."

He did not mention Voldemort's name.

"Thanks to you this time," Ronan sighed and complimented.

"You've once again helped us and the Forbidden Forest. We don't know how to thank you. I can only say that the centaur tribe will always be your ally."

"No need to say that," Bane patted Alaric's shoulder—Alaric, riding on the unicorn, was only slightly shorter than him.

And said, "this wizard has already gained the approval of the unicorn. It's something that hasn't happened in nearly five hundred years. Just based on this, the Forbidden Forest will always welcome him."

"Well, you guys seem to have a good relationship?" Hagrid, seeing them chatting familiarly, was a bit puzzled.

"Of course," Bane cheerfully replied and then glared at Hagrid. "This young wizard has helped us twice, the last time was to solve the trouble you caused."

"Ah, I'm really sorry," Hagrid apologized in a low voice, and then, remembering Norbert's death, he became sad again. Harry had to comfort him quietly.

The five of them, along with the unicorn, walked to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Here, Alaric dismounted from the unicorn. He was going back to Hogwarts Castle.

The unicorn clung to him, constantly rubbing its head against his chest and licking his face, obviously reluctant to see him leave.

"I have to go."

Alaric sighed and said gently, "Before I leave, let me give you a name."

The unicorn looked at him with expectant eyes.

"Lurue," Alaric said. "I'll call you Lurue. This name will be my expectation for you."

Lurue neighed happily, obviously liking the name.

Of course, she would like it. This name was the name of the unicorn goddess in the Forgotten Realms world of D&D.

Then, Alaric drew a symbol on Lurue's forehead.

There was suddenly a feeling of a soul connection between him and Lurue.

This was a contract, something Alaric learned from the contract between him and Himari and Orianna after summoning them.

As his relationship with Lurue deepened, this contract would continue to strengthen and eventually develop into a contract similar to the one with Himari and the others.

Finally, he looked at Bane and Ronan.

"Please, do me a favor," he requested. "Lurue's injuries haven't fully healed. Take care of her for me."

"You can count on us." Bane nodded generously.

"Being able to help a pure unicorn is an honor for our centaur tribe." Ronan also agreed.

So, Alaric reluctantly left Lurue and walked towards Hogwarts Castle. Behind him, Lurue watched him with reluctance, her pure eyes filled with tears.

...

After returning to Hogwarts, Alaric had to face the questioning of the girls— he had been returning to the Ravenclaw common room late at night for several days.

Although others did not notice all this, how could the girls who paid attention to him not know?

Helplessly, Alaric had to selectively tell them some of his experiences.

When they heard that Alaric had made friends with centaurs, the girls were only curious and envious.

But when they heard about the unicorn, whether it was the always calm senior or the scared-of-the-Forbidden-Forest Cho Chang, they all became excited. Girls were indeed attracted by appearances.

The three of them kept asking questions about unicorns, and even Hermione questioned Alaric about the "unicorns only approach pure maidens" common knowledge. However, in the end, they all expressed their desire to see Lurue.

However, it was impossible because the final exams at Hogwarts were about to begin, so Alaric promised to take them to meet Lurue after the exams.

Of course, there was still a problem at the moment, and that was Professor Quirrell disappeared from that night.

He probably considered that Alaric might tell the truth to Dumbledore, so he hid first.

...

On the day of the exam, the weather was extremely hot, and the classroom where they took the exam was even more uncomfortable.

The teachers gave them new quills specifically for the exam, enchanted to prevent cheating.

But for Alaric, these questions were too simple. He completed all the written exams within half an hour and then left the classroom, putting immense pressure on other young wizards.

There was also the practical part of the exam.

Professor Flitwick asked them to enter the classroom one by one to see if they could make a pineapple perform a tap dance on a desk.

Alaric waved his wand at the pineapple. A row of pineapples queued up on the desk, performing a tap dance under Alaric's command until they walked around the table. This astonished everyone, and Professor Flitwick immediately gave him full marks.

Professor McGonagall watched as they turned a mouse into a snuffbox—a more exquisite box meant higher scores. If there were still mouse whiskers on the box, points would be deducted.

Alaric turned the mouse into a gorgeous enamel snuff box—he had seen such a handicraft in Russia—so he got another full mark.

During the Potions exam, their task was to make a Forgetfulness Potion. Snape stood behind, closely watching.

Everyone could feel his breath behind their necks, making them very nervous. But Alaric never cared about this.

He finished the potion first and completely, and Professor Snape couldn't find any faults. He had to reluctantly give him a full mark, holding his nose.

The last exam was on the history of magic. Although Alaric hadn't studied much, he used the method he had used to study history in high school—last-minute cramming of key points. Surprisingly, he also got full marks.

In other words, all his scores were perfect, and the professors were very satisfied with him.

Of course, the real scores had not all come out yet, and they still had a week to relax at Hogwarts.
