Chapter 382 - Chapter 382: Magical Canon

Ron Weasley didn't want to recall his old classmates, but his two children wouldn't let him off the hook.

"Dad, is that famous Alaric really our headmaster?" His son still seemed a bit incredulous.

"I heard from Cousin Louis that their headmaster and professors are all old men. Alaric isn't an old man; how could he be the headmaster?"

"Because… he's a genius," Ron bit his lip and finally replied reluctantly.

"Then I want to be a genius too! I want to be a headmaster when I grow up!"

The red-haired boy confidently declared, and Ron could only manage a wry smile.

—Dear Hugo, you're really brave, wanting to compare yourself to Alaric. Looking at the entire history of wizards, even Merlin couldn't manage that, let alone the fact that you're not a genius yourself.

—I hope you won't be disheartened when you get to Hogwarts.

His son, Hugo Weasley, finally received a satisfying answer, but his daughter, Rose Weasley, who lay in the other crib, remained full of curiosity.

Compared to Alaric, the girl was more interested in others.

"Dad, since you were classmates with Professor Alaric, you must also know Aunt Hermione, Aunt Cho, Aunt Penelope, Aunt Fleur, and Aunt Luna, right?"

"Um… yes."

Hearing the name of the one he had a crush on all those years ago made Ron, despite being married for many years and having long gotten over it, feel a wave of nostalgia at the thought of her stunning beauty.

"So, Dad, what are they doing now?"

Rose asked curiously.

Since they were about to become members of Hogwarts, plus their father's connections with those legendary figures, the little girl immediately developed some fondness and curiosity toward them.

"...Hermione was my classmate back then, and now she's the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. It seems she's in the running to be the next Minister of Magic."

"Wow, that's amazing!" the little girl exclaimed. "What about Aunt Cho?"

"As for Cho, you should know her; she's the Seeker and captain of the Irish Quidditch team, and she has led the team to dominate the Quidditch World Cup for twelve years. Three years ago, I even took you to watch her play."

"I know!" Hugo chimed in excitedly. "Aunt Ginny has been playing under her too! They're going to the World Cup next year, right?"

Although Cho's presence made more witches fall in love with Quidditch, overall, the loyal fans of the sport were still predominantly wizards.

"And what about Aunt Penelope?"

"She's now a renowned master alchemist and also the chairwoman of AP (Alaric and Penelope) Alchemy, the largest chain of alchemy stores in the world."

"I know! I know!" Hugo shouted again, "That's the big alchemy store that has a long-term partnership with our family's Magical Joke Shop, right?"

"Shut up, Hugo!" Rose interrupted him angrily. "I obviously know which AP alchemy store it is; I don't need you to say it!"

Under the pressure from his sister (or rather, his little sister), Hugo obediently fell silent.

When it came to the next person, Rose suddenly perked up. "Dad, Aunt Fleur is the singer from that group, the 'Veela Sisters,' right?"

"You guessed it right," Ron nodded. "She came to Hogwarts from Beauxbatons Academy to participate in the Triwizard Tournament."

"It's so cool that you know such a big star," both Rose and Hugo said with admiration. "It's a pity that she's already the most famous singer in the world; why did she suddenly stop singing?"

"Perhaps she has more important things to do," Ron thought to himself, still feeling a wave of jealousy toward Alaric.

That famous singer gave up her singing career just to spend more time with him—what a heavy sin for a man.

"And what about Aunt Luna? I feel like I've seen her name somewhere," Rose continued to ask.

"You're certainly familiar with her name," Ron said as he rummaged through his children's desk for a book and waved it at them.

"The book you enjoy reading, My First Fantastic Beasts Discovery, is written by her. She's now the most famous magizoologist and popular science writer about magical creatures."

"That's incredible!" the little girl exclaimed sincerely. "Each of them is so amazing! I must become a woman like them in the future."

—What a nice dream.

Ron thought to himself.

—But please don't be like them, unable to see beyond one track, even when everyone has achieved such accomplishments.

While Ron was coaxing his children to sleep, the current headmaster of Hogwarts, Alaric, wasn't preparing for the next day's school opening.

At this moment, he had just left the ninth basement level of the Ministry of Magic and was taking the elevator to the second basement level of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to pick up one of his girlfriends—Hermione Granger, who was now the young head and might become the youngest Minister of Magic in history.

Now, in the Harry Potter world, it was already 2009, and fourteen years had passed since that battle ended.

He was now twenty-nine years old. However, due to the existence of the Dragon Factor, his lifespan had greatly increased, and his growth rate had slowed down almost to that of a dragon.

So, in terms of both appearance and physical age, he still looked like a young man in his early 20's.

Of course, his girlfriends were in the same boat, which meant they had to use charms to maintain a mature appearance to avoid raising suspicions.

Only Alaric didn't consider this at all—after all, he was different from them.

He had already become famous for his unparalleled magic, and as a figure revered by wizards like a modern-day Merlin, remaining youthful was nothing to be surprised about.

Over the past decade or so, Alaric hadn't traveled to other new worlds; he only visited the Game of Thrones world from time to time.

It wasn't that he didn't want to explore new worlds, but the conditions weren't mature enough.

On the one hand, he needed to stay in the Harry Potter world to study its magic; more importantly, he needed to collect the complete magical theories of the Harry Potter world to create a magical canon.

Different worlds have different magical systems, and in certain worlds where magic is more advanced, there are many different magical systems within the same world.

These magical systems are like instruction sets in a computer's CPU; they greatly simplify programming commands, preventing programmers from needing to code in the most basic methods using 0s and 1s.

The same goes for magical systems.

To smoothly use Harry Potter world magic in other worlds, the best approach is to establish the magical system of the Harry Potter world first, and the canon serves as a tool to create that magical system.

If it's a low-magic world like Game of Thrones, where magic is scarce and the rules are broken, that would be fine.

But if Alaric wants to use magic in worlds with higher magical levels, the existence of the canon is essential.

Of course, his stay in the Harry Potter world was driven by more strategic reasons.
