Chapter 338 - Chapter 338: Jealousy Toward Luna

Today, Hogwarts girls had never been more envious of anyone.

It was well-known that Alaric was considered the most handsome and outstanding boy in Hogwarts by most of the female students.

Almost every witch wished to have a boyfriend like him.

Yet, despite Alaric's exceptional qualities, his aloof personality made him very hard to approach.

Every Valentine's Day, most of the girls at Hogwarts would give him chocolates and many would muster the courage to confess their feelings, hoping to gain his approval.

But no one had ever succeeded.

Year after year, no girl had managed to become Alaric's girlfriend.

Most girls settled for less, aiming to at least become friends with Alaric and then hope for further opportunities.

However, even making friends with him was no easy feat.

As a wizard whose highest goal was to explore the truths of the world and master its rules, Alaric spent a considerable amount of time studying and researching, leading him to largely abandon socializing.

This made it almost impossible for most people to become his friends.

So far, only a few could be considered his friends.

Among the boys, besides his roommates who had the advantage of proximity, only the Weasley twins and the savior Harry Potter could be considered his friends.

Among the girls, only Hermione Granger and Cho Chang had a close relationship with him.

The girls at Hogwarts envied and were jealous of these two, but they accepted their closeness to Alaric, as both had impressive accomplishments.

Cho Chang was a Quidditch star, a seeker who had won the Quidditch World Cup and was well-known in the wizarding world.

It was widely believed she would receive offers from major Quidditch clubs upon graduation and could dominate the World Cup for years to come.

Hermione Granger, on the other hand, had emerged as a competitor only recently.

Though she had always been a top student, her serious and unkempt demeanor had made her less popular among girls.

However, since last year, Hermione had not only defeated numerous powerful adult witches but also won the International Wizarding Duelling Tournament.

She shone brightly in the Triwizard Tournament and, had it not been for an accident in the final round, many believed she was the most likely to win the championship alone.

Moreover, after paying attention to her appearance, Hermione's beauty had finally been revealed.

Many boys lamented their lack of insight for not discovering this treasure earlier, which now seemed to have been taken by Alaric.

In summary, both Hermione and Cho Chang were impeccable in terms of appearance and abilities.

The majority of Hogwarts students accepted and were resigned to their closeness with Alaric.

However, what shocked everyone was that, after the departure of the beautiful and intelligent Penelope Clearwater, another girl had managed to get closer to Alaric, their ideal.

And this person was Luna Lovegood, whom everyone had looked down upon and dismissed.

Just moments ago, they had seen Luna and Alaric talking intimately and joyfully.

And their idol, Alaric, had actually smiled at Luna—a smile that had never been seen before from him.

How could they tolerate this?

Luna was known as the "crazy girl."

Most girls disliked her because she was eccentric, often spouting nonsensical and bizarre theories.

She believed in and promoted outlandish concepts like moon frogs, Nargles, and Crumple-Horned Snorkacks. Her taste was also questioned, such as using Butterbeer corks and carrots as jewelry, and her behavior was deemed peculiar.

For a long time, Luna had been the subject of their scorn and bullying.

Now, however, this girl they all despised had managed to win Alaric's approval before they could.

At that moment, countless girls felt heartbroken and began to harbor jealousy toward Luna.

Many started to investigate Luna, trying to figure out how she had piqued Alaric's interest.

Nearby, Lisa Turpin was whispering to Padma Patil.

"I just heard that Alaric agreed to go on a Crumple-Horned Snorkack hunt with Luna!" Lisa said in shock.

"Do you think I should also have some unrealistic hobby to stand out? Maybe that would make me seem more unique—"

"Don't be silly. That would only make you seem even more foolish," Padma replied quietly.

"I think Luna's success is due to a Love Potion."

"But people have tried using Love Potions before," Padma's sister (or maybe it's the other way around),

Parvati Patil, pointed out softly.

"Lavender once put a Love Potion in chocolates given to Alaric, and I heard the Greengrass sisters from Slytherin tried it too, but none of them succeeded."

"That's because they didn't use the right method!" Padma said confidently.

"I think everyone knows that Alaric rarely eats food given by others.

Maybe Luna found another way.

Perhaps she collaborated with a house-elf and secretly put the Love Potion in Alaric's breakfast."

Hearing this, Lisa Turpin, Parvati Patil, and other girls' eyes lit up as if they had discovered a useful secret.

They began to make plans in secret.

It was foreseeable that Hogwarts' kitchen would soon be in an uproar.

Meanwhile, Alaric and Luna chatted and ate.

Though Luna sometimes spoke off-topic, Alaric managed to follow her train of thought, and they conversed amidst the curious glances of other students.

Out of the corner of Alaric's eye, he saw Hermione and Cho Chang finally finishing breakfast.

Alaric promptly got up and, with Luna in tow, headed toward them.

It was time to start today's work.
