Chapter 168 - Chapter 168: The Fall of Pentos

The early morning was coming to an end.

The warriors of Dothraki were already shirtless, riding their horses, forming long queues on the grassland.

Some held arak scimitars, some wielded spears, some held long whips, and on their backs were bows and arrows.

Scouts had already set off, galloping back and forth under the walls of Pentos, making provocative gestures.

A large number of soldiers who carried heavy axes and specialized in relieving the wounded, were waiting at the end of the line.

The young men rode their ponies, waving wooden weapons, admiringly pointing at the warriors in the distance, while the women and children waited in the camp, waiting for their fate.

Alaric and Daenerys rode black and silver horses respectively, standing at the forefront of the Dothraki, with Jorah, who acted as the bodyguard of the new Khaleesi, guarding them in heavy armor beside them.

There were also a few young Dothraki warriors who were the most fervent believers of the Dragon God among these Dothraki, and Alaric's displayed power immediately conquered them.

Alaric nodded to Daenerys, then leaped up and transformed into the form of a dragon in the air, flying towards the walls of Pentos.

Behind him, the Dothraki erupted into cheers like "The Dragon God is above all!" and "May the Dragon God bless us!"

His transformation only strengthened their faith and conviction in their new lord's power.

The morale of the Dothraki warriors had soared, and they were eager to try.

Following Alaric's previous instructions, Daenerys put on the Crown of Dragonblood.

The familiar pressure immediately gave her incomparable majesty in front of the Dothraki.

They began to truly recognize the petite girl in front of them as their new Khaleesi, the earthly representative of the Dragon God.

"Warriors of Dothraki," she shouted, her voice carrying through the entirety of Khalasar, "the messenger of the Dragon God has already gone ahead to attack the walls of Pentos.

Under the power of the Dragon God, the walls of Pentos are nothing but a small fence before us. Everyone, charge with me now!"

The sound of dense hoofbeats echoed across the vast grassland. The entire Khalasar, numbering in the tens of thousands, marched towards the walls of Pentos.

In fact, long before they noticed the abnormality of the Dothraki, the Magisters of Pentos had already been prepared.

They lined the walls with crossbowmen, catapults, and ballistas, and armored soldiers had also gathered in formation at the city gates.

However, when they saw the dragon appear in the distance, the Magisters completely panicked.

They never expected that, before enduring the Dothraki's attack, they would have to face the claws and flames of a dragon.

They didn't know that Khal Drogo was dead and that the dragon had subjugated the Dothraki, and they were in cahoots.

The common people, who had grown up listening to legends of dragons but had never seen one, nervously aimed all the long-range weapons they could find in the direction of the dragon, hoping to stop this legendary disaster.

But soon, they found that they had completely underestimated the power and wisdom of the dragon.

This huge beast made elegant and agile flight movements in the air, causing most of the stones and ballistae to miss.

Occasionally, some arrows hit the dragon, but for the sturdy dragon scales, it was nothing more than an itch.

In just a short time, the dragon flew over the walls.

The soldiers' heads were brushed by the giant black shadow, and the sound of wing flaps and the pressure from them made them panic and flee in all directions, leaving hardly anyone on the city walls.

However, the dragon didn't attack the fleeing soldiers. It opened its mouth and spewed scorching and forceful dragon breath towards the sturdy city gate.

The intense flames and impact immediately caused cracks in the city gate.

In the next moment, the dragon gave up its aerial advantage and dove down, crashing into the city gate.

With a loud boom, the city gate opened, and debris scattered all over the ground.

But the dragon only felt a little dizzy in its head, shook it, and then flapped its wings and flew up again.

What a terrifying dragon.

For the next period of time, the Magisters found that the dragon didn't intend to do anything to the city.

It didn't set fire to the city or eat people.

It just hovered near the city gate and continuously breathed scorching dragon breath at any soldiers daring to approach the gate.

Soon, a few burnt corpses appeared at the wide-open city gate, and no soldiers dared to approach it anymore.

At first, the Magisters found it somewhat puzzling, not knowing what the dragon's purpose was.

But after a while, as the familiar sound of hoofbeats echoed outside the city gate, the Magisters finally understood.

The dragon and the Dothraki were in cahoots, they were both on the same sides.

The fall of Pentos was already predetermined.
